Mehso-so

It's hard to judge this book on its own because the entire time I was reading it bits and pieces of the movie and its haunting song were running through my head. But what I did get from the book that I didn't from the movie is that this story is almost as much about Oliver and his father as it is about Oliver and Jenny.

“Trauma has a way of indelibly linking the incidentals to the profound.”

Loved the Mistletoe series ❤️ This ⬆️ is a sparkly crystalline snowman in my neighborhood.

Me to me author, I think🙃. A nice audiobook palate cleanser. Personally, I would have liked a bit more differentiation with the character voices however, Bennett‘s narration was excellent. I will read more from this author; I have few that were given to me, on my physical shelves.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

I loved this. Some aspects of it reminded me of the 1990s movie Casper. I enjoyed the story very much. Narrated very well. The main female character irked me in the beginning but when she smartened up I was relieved. I adored her friends, the 80s era, the music, the history, and of course the love story. Beware, this ends on a cliffhanger.

Are there any other book swaps that are open atm? I try to check @LitsyEvents often but I haven't seen any happening right now.

It's a toss up which book, this one or The Outsiders, is the first work of YA. This one was written when Daly was still in college and published in 1942. Although I found it slow moving, I also found it full of wistful nostalgia. Anyone who has ever fallen in love as a teen will likely recognize themselves in Angie. The themes are universal.
