#abbainaugust #mammamia I have posted this title before, it remains probably my all time favorite memoir.I love Vivian Gorniks writing anyway ,whatever she writes.This book is a wonderful conversation about a daughters relationship with her mother.Sometimes they are nearly at each other‘s throats,sometimes they find common ground. Highly recommended.

I also listened to Sarah Moss on you tube .... very interesting her understanding of women who fought for change ... not always the most likable of women ?! How could they be ?! Sarah Moss was very interesting on this topic. It made sense to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ sadly . But I liked SM steady approach- no romanticizing. Have a listen ... very enlightening (edited) 7y

Mildred Pierce | James M. Cain

#mamamia instantly made me think of Mildred Pierce and her bitch of a daughter. 😂 I did a project in high school on the movie adaption with Joan Crawford, which led me to finally reading the book last year and discovering how much I love James Cain! #abbainaugust

Unpopular opinion but #MamaMia what a stupid book this was. All those horrible cliche characters (that Jeannie, wife of Ralph... I kept hoping The Outsider would get her 😀) and then the supernatural twist and a so predictable plot: no, this was obviously not for me.

A good, though sad read. The dialect/slang was difficult for me - I kept having to ask my kids what things meant. My daughter said say it out loud and it will help- but not really whilst on the bus!

#AbbaInAugust This series has a real #MamaMia feel to it ❤️💚I only read book one, which was beautifully written. Unfortunately, the city of Naples was my favorite character and I wasn‘t invested enough to continue on.
