#JoyousJanuary round-up! I am all caught up with my reading for my busy January. I decided to give up Peach Blossom Spring for this month because I am on the verge of being #overbooked and think I‘d rather read it later, not rush.

This week: Love Medicine, The Once & Future Witches, & Middlemarch

The topic was fresh - introducing Dr. Coumey's incubator ward at Coney Island. I was totally engrossed. Is a conman/showman a hero? He is if he's saving precious lives. In a way, I wish that the story centered around him, but the character development was very strong and the characters were relatable. Hattie broke my heart. Interesting approach to Lucy Stone's fight for universal suffrage and her fight with fellow suffragists, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Her whole life was spent fighting to honor women in whatever role they choose - wife, mother, or professional or all three. #Overbooked @megnews @sblbooks

#overbooked club. This is the first chunkster I‘ve read in years. I have complicated emotions about it. The writing is excellent, but I wish it was a trilogy with one book for each time line. The characters were well written and complex. The history was interesting and engaging. The stories were all heartbreaking and I just do not like sad. That would be my only critique.
