Good. Interesting concept and full of twists and turns. Shows how secrets can affect family through many generations.

Once again a book has taught me about history I‘d never heard of-Dr Couney and his incubators for premature babies on Coney Island. The characters were well developed and Stella eventually grew on me lol. The end had me in tears.

Based on the premature babies saved in incubators at Coney Island when no doctor would give them a chance, I was drawn to this book as my mom retired from the NICU.
If you like historical fiction with strong female leads, a book you fly through until the last few chapters because you don‘t want it to end, this book is for you.

The topic was fresh - introducing Dr. Coumey's incubator ward at Coney Island. I was totally engrossed. Is a conman/showman a hero? He is if he's saving precious lives. In a way, I wish that the story centered around him, but the character development was very strong and the characters were relatable. Hattie broke my heart. Trigger Warning for spousal abuse. #Overbooked @sblbooks @megnews
I am in love with this book. I don't think I have ever read a book about the people who helped with reform in education and medicine - especially for those who cannot speak for themselves. #OverbookedClub @megnews @sblbooks

And neonatal unit at Coney Island... who knew? This was such a compelling story, I love to read about little-known history. This one really, really sucked me in. I really liked the characters. I was cheering for them the whole way through. Once the backstories were established, the plot picked up speed and I really got into it. At that point, the characters were not listening to me as I tried to give them advice and save them from their future decisions. But they didn‘t listen to me! 🙄 By the end, I was 😭 OMG. #overbookedclub
I‘m about to throw my phone and this audiobook out the window. Why won‘t these characters listen to me?! I give good advice! 😉🤣 Arg! #overbookedclub
I really liked this story about Stella and her mom, Althea. Both women were trying to figure how they fit into the world at times when there weren't many opportunities for women. When Althea passed away, Stella was left with a lot of questions.
There were some aspects of the story that seemed to be not as well developed, and it felt somewhat unfinished but I'm not sure why. Overall. It was a good book, though. #OverbookedClub
Wow! It‘s only the beginning of the month, & I‘m almost done with the #overbookedclub pick for September since I listened to a chunk on the way home from vacation. I‘m drawn into the stories of the characters & while I find Stella to be a little whiney, I really like the intertwining of the stories. I know the backstory now & am shouting answers (& advice) at the characters, yet they don‘t seem to listen to me.🤷♀️ I don‘t know why not! 🤔😉🤣

These are the books for next week. 😀 Work gets in the way of my reading time some days-fancy that!
I'm so glad it's finally the weekend! Teaching in a pandemic school year (again 🙄) is exhausting. So I'm enjoying my newest coffee flavor in my new mug. And I love this book so far!
And I know my husband loves me- even though he says I don't need any more mugs (I don't) because I have too many (I do) and I can't even fit them all in the cabinet (I can't), he still brought home this mug for me because he knows I love Drew Barrymore! 💛

This is one book you don't want to miss.
It's a beautifully-heartbreaking yet great story. About babies, love, life, loss and other things. Set in NY and part time Luna Park.
It's one that will keep me thinking about it for a long time.
