I enjoyed this, but not as much as the author‘s more recent works. In the 1950s, Lexie leaves her life in the country for the bright lights of London. In the present day Elina and Ted are struggling after the birth of their first child. I spent the first third of the book desperately trying to link the two timelines together. Once I relaxed into it and just went with the flow I enjoyed it a lot more.

I quite enjoyed this romantic romp through NYC. Reid took a while to really like, but the build-up was good. I don‘t plan to hunt out Clayborn‘s backlist, but I would read her again if the book was right. #52Books23 #scriptfontonthespine #BlameitonLitsy

Now I can catch up on Agnes, who‘s been giving me the side-eye. Hey, I‘ve been sick and not able to read as much as I‘d like, and Agnes takes some willpower! #PemberLittens

TheBookHippie Fell better and yes phew Agnes. 2y

A soft pick. I didn‘t like the beginning & almost bailed. I didn‘t like that the author made out that events in Austen‘s books came from real life and not imagination. (Perhaps this was intended to pay homage, but it came off otherwise to me). However, I got caught up in the story and enjoyed James‘ writing style. My absolute favorite ‘Austen Inspired‘ book is ‘The Missing Manuscript of Jane Austen‘ is by this same author, so I was disappointed.

rmaclean4 Beautiful cover! 2y
Bluebird @rmaclean4 isn‘t it! I had to buy the print copies of her books because the covers are so lovely! 😂 2y
Librarybelle I read this years ago and find myself not remembering much of it. I guess it was a so-so read for me! (edited) 2y
