Sometimes, you just gotta buckle down and do the work. 💙

#WeirdWordWednesday #WeirdWords @CBee

CBee Oof. But the work can be so hard 😬🫩 1d

This word came up in my last read (Saltwater 🙌🏻🙌🏻). It would be so fun to ride one of these! 😊
Here‘s an article about some well-known funiculars around the world: https://www.treehugger.com/fabulous-funiculars-from-around-the-globe-4863745

RaeLovesToRead I've been on funiculars! There was a small one in Scarborough. The biggest I've been on (I think) was Lake Como. Do you have them in the US? 2d
RaeLovesToRead Ok the ones in the article are enormous! I've not been on one that big!!!!! 2d

CBee @RaeLovesToRead we do! Not sure how many, but there‘s one a couple hours from me that I might have to check out! 2d
TheBookHippie I‘ve been on a few and I‘ve been on the Lookout Mountain one, seen the LA one. There‘s one at our zoo it‘s a riot ! 2d
peanutnine A funicular was mentioned in my last read as well! What are the odds! These seem so cool, I want to ride one! 2d
ImperfectCJ The article missed this one, which is the one that taught me the word. (Until then, I just called them all trams, which is clearly wrong.): https://www.quebec-cite.com/en/businesses/funiculaire-du-vieux-quebec 2d
Bookwormjillk I rode one in Pittsburgh. Kind of fun and scary at the same time. 1d
CBee @TheBookHippie if you ever ever ever get back down to Chattanooga, you better let me know. I‘m like two hours from there! 1d
CBee @peanutnine small world! I sort of thought it sounded like a body part - like part of the spine or something 😆 1d
CBee @ImperfectCJ oooo how cool! 1d
CBee @Bookwormjillk I want to visit the one on Lookout Mountain now. 1d
Bookwormjillk @CBee I bet that's pretty! 1d
CBee @Bookwormjillk it‘s lovely up there! 1d

It‘s raining outside, I‘ve got hot chocolate, the blanket right out of the dryer, and a lovely book. It‘s a perfect afternoon.

Do I have 10 different rain related words saved in my notes app? No comment.

Today‘s #weirdwords choice could make you hungry, or make you feel ill, depending on how you feel about peas 🫛😂 #weirdwordwednesday

CatLass007 Great word! I hate canned peas but I love snow peas. 1w

CatLass007 Good morning! 1w
CBee @CatLass007 good morning! I grew up on canned peas but once I tried fresh, I never wanted canned again! Same with asparagus! 1w
CatLass007 My Mom used to tell a story that I don‘t remember happening but it sounds like me. When I was in daycare we couldn‘t get up from the lunch table until we cleaned our plates. When Mom came to pick me up after she got off work, I was still sitting at the table eating my peas. With. My. Knife. One. Pea. At. A. Time.🤣 1w
Bookwormjillk These are fresh in my garden now and my daughter can‘t get enough. I‘ll have to let her know. 1w
TheSpineView Thanks for the tag! BTW, I love snow 🫛 💚 1w
TheBookHippie I love sugar snap peas!!! Yummmm. 1w
Amiable I like snow peas, but my tongue is completely and utterly unable to pronounce French words! 😄 1w
dabbe @Amiable Try this: mahnge-TOO (don't mind if I do!) 1w
dabbe The only way I can eat frozen or canned peas is in a salad with lots of dressing. 🤣 1w
willaful @Bookwormjillk I grow them too and can't wait. I eat them raw! 1w
BookmarkTavern Yum! I love sugar peas! 1w
CBee @CatLass007 wow, that is some serious dedication to peas 😂😂 1w
CBee @Amiable ha! I do okay. My husband says I pronounce German fairly well which is a major feat 😂 1w
CBee @dabbe perfect 🤩 1w
Amiable @CBee German is way easier for me — my husband jokes that I inherited the “German gargle” from my ancestors because I can pronounce those harsh sounds much better than the French ones! 😄 1w
CatLass007 More like serious dedication to no peas.😝😂😂 1w
CBee @Amiable ha! The German gargle 😂😂 I‘ll have to tell hubby this 1w
CBee @CatLass007 true. I think that was what I meant actually 😂🤪 1w
CatLass007 I figured. It‘s weird. I like split pea soup. But it has flavor and canned peas just don‘t. 1w

A Ghanaian concept, the word is expanded into the proverb “se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi.”

Sankofa is the understanding that only by knowing your (personal, cultural, national) history can you know your current self, and know how to become better.

The concept feels particularly relevant right now.

#WeirdWordWednesday #WeirdWords

shortsarahrose I‘ve heard this used in meditation practices before. Like you pick something you want to get out of your practice as a sankofa, say it a few times, and then let it go. 3w
CBee I always love the words you post! 3w

This isn‘t the meaning I expected when looking up this word (stumbled upon recently when reading the AMAZING All the Sinners Bleed). But it‘s cool nonetheless! #weirdwordwednesday #weirdwords

TheSpineView 😎😎😎 3w
peanutnine I was expecting something to do with birds! TIL 😅 3w
Deblovestoread I love this word! Great choice. 3w

CatLass007 This is a great word! I‘ve read it before so I knew what it meant in the context of the words around it. I‘m too lazy to look it up in a dictionary though. Thanks for sharing this amazing word, you amazing woman! 3w
BookmarkTavern What a timely word! 😂 3w
dabbe You always pick the best ones to say out loud! And extremely prescient as well. 😍 3w
CBee @BookmarkTavern I thought the exact same thing 😂🤦‍♀️ 3w
CBee @peanutnine I can see that! 😂 3w
CBee @dabbe thank you! 😊 3w
CBee @CatLass007 you‘re very welcome, fellow amazing woman 😊 3w
CatLass007 I just did something that I said I don‘t do because of laziness. I looked up the definition of the word “febrile.” It was just used in the book Conclave describing a “new and febrile mood.” It can mean either feverish or nervous excitement or energy. From the context, I believe it is intended to mean nervous excitement or energy. You have inspired me to start looking up the definitions of words! 3w
CBee @CatLass007 I know that word from my nursing school days. I‘m glad I inspired you to look it up 😊👏🏻 3w

My lilacs are blooming, my hydrangeas are up. And the roses are budding! I am so ready for spring.

This word also has a chemistry related definition, used to describe the process of a substance loosing moisture and turning into a fine powder, but I like the first one better.

#WeirdWordWednesday #WeirdWords

CBee I like the first one better, too. Because flowers ♥️ 1mo
Read-n-Bloom Awwwww 😫 I missed Weird Word Wednesday! Dadnabit! 😂 1mo
