This one usually flies under the radar, but it's excellent. It was a #pulitzerwinner in 1935 and Johnson is the youngest person to win for fiction at 24. Highly recommend.

💙 Tuck Everlasting was a book that really stuck with me as a kid. I loved the plot. The book made me think. I still re-read this book and love it every time.
💙 There are parts of Marigold from Magic for Marigold that remind me of myself as a child.
💙 I most recently finished The Line of Beauty. 3.75 stars It started and ended strong, but was a bit of a slog in the middle.

I chose the poetry class over the lit class for this era in college. 🤣 Random thoughts:
💚 I was one of the only people in my class who loved Candide when we read it in high school. This still baffles me.
🩵 I saw the netflix series based on House of Usher, and it was so strange. I really want to read the story now.
💙 I hadn't heard of A Dream of Red Mansions before today, and now it's on my tbr.

💙My favorite is the smell in the air in the summer before a thunderstorm - it always reminds me of a perfect afternoon of swimming and camaraderie with friends at summer camp before a big storm ended up rolling in.
💙Hunting for faeries in the neighborhood with my BFF (who is still my BFF 30+ years later). We also performed spells in my backyard in a little fort we made under a pine tree.

pickEvery so often, accidental themes start emerging with the books I'm reading. Lately, it is "books that I wish were in existence during my adolescence." What a unique, yet painfully accurate, approach to discussing depression and trauma. This one is going to stick with me for a while.

There is a "what radicalized you?" trend that hits social media every now and again. For me, it was just how I was raised. My #dad has always been my best history teacher and my political role model. The tagged book is among many he introduced me to. I couldn't find a good recent picture, so here's some of my favorite throwbacks.

pickThis was a beautiful and moving coming of age novel. It's absolute perfection. I highly recommend the audio read by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He truly makes the book come alive.
This was one of the most banned books in my state (Michigan). It's heartbreaking that there are people cannot see the value of this book.
