I read a lot of fiction & non-fiction related to drinking, a lot of famous writers drank.Our sometimes complex relationship w/ drink through the ages has generated lots of good reading. At about 17, working as a student librarian I discovered this debut novel and fell in love with it. It‘s the story of a 20 something man, living with friends in squats in Brixton #wasting his life while he‘s feeling disengaged, disenfranchised. He and his friends are clever but quixotic and they don‘t want to join the rat race. I think I loved the way his friends became a family. The writing is beautiful and I‘m a #dyerfan

When I first started hearing about this book, I assumed it was about getting #wasted. Not exactly. 😂. I did absolutely love it and highly recommend this novel, but it is not about getting stoned. #getmovin

I‘ve had this memoir on my tbr ever since @LauraBeth drew my attention to it and have since purchased from #bookoutlet 😄... I‘m intrigued to read Hamill‘s perspective on the effects (mostly negative it seems) that alcohol has had on his life and caused him to become sober. However, I don‘t expect that it will influence me to stop drinking... 🍷🍹🍸🥂🥃🍺🤷🏻‍♀️

This is just one of those books that makes you ask why? A young woman who seems to have everything, but is actually in such despair that she ends her own life. Everything #wasted. It‘s so hard to comprehend and the tragedy is all encompassing. My heart breaks for her family and friends. #getmovin

When I think of wasted, I think about this book! I loved the book but the main character seems to be wasted for most of the book. Sorry if you haven‘t read it yet and didn‘t know this! 😳 #wasted #getmovin

Im raiding my bookshelves for the challenge and found this title from one of my favourite police procedural series - Charlie Resnick a jazz loving unlikely hero and also a tv adaptation that did justice to the book although I've still not read the recent final book.
