AnnR I've got a general feel for the personalities but will see how things progress. They all sound a bit snobby. 14mo
Bookwormjillk I‘m looking forward to seeing how things work out with all these snobs. 14mo

dabbe Is this one a chapter a day? 14mo
BarkingMadRead @dabbe yes! There are 23 chapters so we will even be done before it‘s time for Turkey! 14mo
BarkingMadRead @annr @Bookwormjillk I‘m glad I‘m not the only one 🤣🤣 14mo
AnneCecilie Sybil definitely sounds interesting, but then Pym always has some interesting female characters in the her novels. 14mo
kspenmoll Still waiting on my order from Blackwell‘s. Not in my library 14mo
dabbe @BarkingMadRead #woohoo! 💜🖤🧡 14mo
eeclayton I'm glad this book got chosen. It felt so cozy to step back into Pym's world. 14mo
Cuilin Something tells me we‘re not in Wessex anymore. 14mo
Graciouswarriorprincess I'm starting this tonight after work. @barkingmadread can you please add me to the daily list? Thanks. :) 14mo
rubyslippersreads I enjoy reading about these people, but I don‘t think I‘d enjoy actually hanging out with them. 😏 14mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig I like that this one is seasonal. St Luke's Day is October 18th. Evil Chrystamums. 😆 Also someone remind me what the difference is between low and high church. I know we've discussed it before. 14mo
BarkingMadRead @Crinoline_Laphroaig low church is like Protestant and high church is Catholic, low church has less ritual and high church has more 14mo
Bklover @Crinoline_Laphroaig That was my question too- low and high church. And thanks for the explanation @BarkingMadRead 🤎🤎🤎 14mo
bthegood I laughed when Wilmet is thinking about Father Bode and thinks he might be the type who likes tin salmon but then she's embarrassed by that thought because he's a good man. 😂 14mo
peanutnine I do like Sybil so far however I find it interesting that she is another archaeologist. Is this a pattern with Pym characters or something from the time period? She wrote a woman archaeologist in Excellent Women as well. As a former archaeologist, I found it remarkable since the field has become so male-dominated 14mo
bthegood @peanutnine interesting point - I forgot that there was female archaeologist in that one! 14mo
julieclair So far, Sybil is the only one of these characters I like. 14mo
rwmg @peanutnine I associate Pym with anthropologists rather than archaeologists. No Pym novel is complete without the clergy and anthropologists. I suppose she met them in her day job and so they were just part of her world. 14mo
