Bailedbailed

.5/5⭐ Super pretentious. The author talks about himself in the highest terms and name/location drops all over the place. He says he has “merrily disregarded every distinction between highbrow, middlebrow, and lowbrow taste“ as if he's some benevolent writing god and then proceeds to name specific authors he clearly thinks fall into one of those brows (but he doesn't distinguish, so it's not elitist!). ⬇

hissingpotatoes The first sentence of chapter one is “The only way to begin is to begin, and begin right now,“ and the word “begin“ is repeated even after that in a long-winded paragraph that says very little and sets the stage for how the rest of the book's advice will be presented. Not for me. #roll100 2mo

So im obsessed with these bracelets! Theyre by a company called Zox and they make empowering and inspirational double sided bracelets! Theyre like reminders you can wear! I have a bunch already and they finally made a bookish one!

wanderinglynn How fun! ❤️ 2y
peanutnine I've bought a few of these for my sister! Did not know they have a bookish one, might have to look into that for myself 🙃 2y

George is one of my favorite mystery writers & when I saw she wrote a book about turning an idea into a novel, I knew I had to read it. Using her book ‘Careless in Red‘, George explains, & shows, how she builds a story, step by step, from establishing & researching the setting, finding the plot kernel, creating characters, building their inner & outer worlds, voice, development, step outlining & more. Very interesting for readers & writers alike.

15 months ago I had never read poetry in my life (apart from a handful of lone poems sprinkled throughout my 33 years) and everything I read was digital. Now, this is my poetry shelf (well on its way to 22 inches long). Yeah, I‘m proud. #shelfie
@TheBookHippie you‘ve created a monster! 😂 What have you done?! 🤣

TrishB Lovely ♥️ 3y
GingerAntics @TrishB thank you. I realised shortly after posting I still have at least 2 more books of poetry coming, so I probably should have waited for those to get here first. Oh well. 3y
TrishB I love poetry. But tend to have binges! 3y
TheBookHippie Ah the beauty !!!! 🤍🤍🤍 and right in time for poetry month!! 3y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie I had no idea April was poetry month. 3y

This is a must read for anyone who wants to make an emotional impact with their writing. The techniques presented may be take some practice to master, but they are presented in a clear and easy to understand way. As an editor, I‘ll be recommending this book often. As a writer, I‘ll refer to it just as much. This is not a sit-and-read craft book, it requires active participation, which is what makes it so great.

Minerva‘s keeping me company while I prep for #Nanowrimo by reading the tagged book. I‘m enjoying it a lot, other than the author using examples from books I intend to read. Some have a quick “spoilers ahead!” notice but some don‘t & they often contain what I‘d consider minor spoilers. It‘s annoying, but I can get past it because there are lots of useful exercises that I‘m sure will help me improve my novels. I can‘t wait to get started!

JazzFeathers I'm not sure about my NaNo this year. I'm going to attempt it, of course. But l've been working such long hours all through the month (and l'm not done yet) and l'm already exhausted 😪. Let's see. Good luck to you. I'll follow your progress. And just in case, l'm Celebcuen on the site 😊 4y
TK-421 @JazzFeathers Sorry to hear you‘re exhausted 😞 Thanks for the well-wishes & best of luck to you too! I‘m Vaaren on the Nano site & I sent you a buddy invite 😊 4y

I‘m sure it‘s no surprise books are my favourite #hobby: reading, writing & reading about writing or writing about reading! If you look past all the penguins you can sort of see my “writing resources“ shelf: books about writing (close up top right), reference books & books that inspire. I also collect penguins, play board games and D&D, and I crochet. I‘m hoping to try some #audiocrocheting this winter! #SelfImprovementSept

SaturnDoo Is that a starghan? I love the round ripples and have made a few of the starghans too. Yours is very pretty 💜❤💜 5y
TK-421 @SaturnDoo Thank you! It‘s the only one I‘ve made using that particular pattern but it‘s my favourite star pattern so far. I‘ve made a couple of baby blankets using a different starghan pattern but I didn‘t like it as much. I‘ve done a few round ripples & granny ripples too. I love any pattern that doesn‘t require making a bunch of squares & piecing them together! 5y
SaturnDoo @TK-421 Some of the starghan/RR patterns don't lay flat. I have a RR pattern that I love. Uggghhh I don't like joining squares either. If I do anything in squares I use the join as you go method 🤣😂 5y
