I'm definitely in the minority here. I loved the premise but didn't like the book. My biggest problem were the characters. For me, the characters fell flat, particularly Shazi who I couldn't stand because her actions just didn't reflect her motivations, especially if she harboured that much hatred for Khalid, swearing that she's going to kill him. I know it's a romance, but that's just unrealistic.

Had this on audio and narrated by Armie Hammer 👌👌although it was a bit disconcerting at times. Anyway, the prose was quite beautiful and there was something that was captivating about Elio and Oliver's relationship. Also, the film looks absolutely stunning!!

TheBookStacker I just got this on audio because Armie Hammer narrates it, I love his voice! 6y
somebooksaround Absolutely love this book!! 6y

Very behind on reviews so this one was read a while ago. I enjoyed this book with it's treasure hunt and competition element but most, if not all of the nostalgic 80s references went over my head. However, I don't think that impeded my understanding of this novel TOO much. Overall, a fun book and can't wait for the film! 6.5/10

SheilaChew I can‘t wait for the movie too! 6y

I know some people don't like Capaldi as the doctor but I have to admit that he's grown on me as 12 and I'll be sad to see him go. However, I can't wait to see Jodie Whittaker's run and Chibnall take over the reins.

BookwormAHN I agree I really enjoyed Capaldi this last season but I can't waite for the new season 💙 6y
Texreader My daughter was sobbing to see him go when she watched it today. We got to see Capaldi at a Comicon in Dallas last year and she loves him. 6y
rabbitprincess @Texreader I was sobbing right along with your daughter! I love Capaldi too ♥️♥️😭😭 6y
Laura317 I fell in love with the 12th Doctor in the first episode. I‘ve enjoyed all the Doctors and look forward to the 13th 💙 6y
CaitZ I really liked Capaldi too and hate to see him go and at the same time I'm excited to see 13. I think I'm just a Doctor Who junkie. 6y

Loved, loved, LOVED this one!! The language was absolutely gorgeous and although it's not one the of "best" books I've ever read, it's among my favourites because there was just something in this book that was magical? Epic? Anyone who enjoys myths and legends, this one's for you.

Leelee.reads I really liked this one too! Sucked me right in. 6y

Very behind on reviews.😳. This one was well written with a good premise and throughly developed characters. However, I found that it was a bit too long (that might just be me) but I guess that was necessary for all of the character development. 6.8/10

I rather enjoyed this one by Riley Sager. Definitely a page turner but isn't really scary/creepy, which is or isn't a bad thing. However, I felt that the ending was just put together for shock value and had no real logic. 6.1/10

Bambolina_81 I'm reading this a the moment, I'm kind of plodding through it and think I'm about 50% so far 6y

Quick read, nothing that I particularly loved and at times it was difficult to emphasise with the characters... 😐. But it's another one off the TBR Bingo! 5.9/10

TheDaysGoBy I completely agree with you! I remember being irrationally mad when I realized what was going on/got to the end. Definitely didn't live up to the hype for me 6y

Loved this one!! Beautiful language, engaging plot, realistic characters...the whole lot. Only thing that I could hope for was a slightly more conclusive ending but this ending was great too and I will definitely be checking out some her other works. Everybody needs to read this, that being said, this is not a whodunnit. 7.3/10

EchoLogical 7.3? So precise! 😝 7y
tracy.m.ng I like how it was more of a character driven book than plot driven. And the characters all of them broke my heart...but their struggles are so realistic! 7y

Even though this is supposed to be a quick read, it me ages to finish as I just couldn't get into it. I don't understand this book (I still have a lot of questions and am slightly confused) and it's just not for me. 5.5/10

Suzze I have heard this many times, and I've also heard of a lot of amazing thoughts on it. I bought it ages ago. Maybe after I'm not newly out of a reading slump I'll try it. (I own it). 7y
EvieBee I thought it was meh too. Glad I read it but it was a bit strange. (edited) 7y

Haven't been able to read much lately due to exams so it's taken me ages to finish this. :(
I read it for similar reasons to everyone and found that the book had a interesting and slightly terrifying plot line. At times the story was hard to follow due to the writing but overall it's still a pick! 6.7/10

This is quite possibly the strangest book that I have ever read and I cannot decide whether I like this story or not, so I'm putting a so-so. In some places, I found the writing to be too slow but the story itself is neither brilliant nor terrible, it's just different. 5.8

julesG I read it nearly twenty years ago. My French teacher had recommended it to me, knowing that I would enjoy all the "smells and odours" in the book. 7y
Joanne1 Oh that book left me feeling so lost. It really was bizarre. 7y
