Log is ready, coffee is ready, first book is set to go. I got a good 6 hours of sleep.
Let‘s start this shindig. @24in48 #24in48readathon
A trip to the library and gathering together all my TBR piles from around the house, and I think I‘m ready for the @24in48 Readathon this weekend.
#24in48readathon
Cozying up with tea and Mr Gaiman while the mid-term results come in on MSNBC. (Might switch to whiskey later, TBH.)
I had a quiet moment during my dinner break between shows yesterday to start this new book. I‘m loving it so far!
"A tongue is very like a gun, which is why they nearly rhyme. Both can be fired to devastating effect, for good or evil, and both can explode in your hands, wounding your comrades instead of your enemies."

"The night was cold but gentle like an X-rated metaphor."
This book is unexpectedly hilarious in the most random places.
Tech week has me brain fried and exhausted. But my hour-long commute to the theatre is better with a new audiobook and I just picked up some easy reading from the library for my “down time” (if I get any.) #stagemanagerlife
A friend lent me these. I won't be getting any work done for the rest of the weekend.
It took me a bit to get into the narration style, but now that I have, I'm really enjoying this book. I read a blurb of it somewhere and found it at the library because it sounded like something I would like. It's totally different from what I thought, but I'm still really enjoying it.
I love pleasant little surprises like that in a book.
When you're enjoying a book so much, you forget about all the other things you were supposed to do in an evening and the next thing you know, it's past your bedtime.
Oops.
Taking a quick beer and book break before I get to work on other things. #oppositesattract #myfavoriteglass
You ever hesitate to write a review on Goodreads because you‘re afraid the author might see it?
I liked one storyline of this book much better than the other. But I suspect the portion I didn‘t like was based closely on events from the author‘s life.
I didn‘t want to say that I didn‘t like what she wrote about her life on Goodreads. So I just said nothing.
Well, I judged this one too soon. I was really excited about it at first. Brother Francis did the things and it was fun and I really liked Brother Francis.
And then other things happened and I got bored and I wanted Brother Francis back. It didn‘t go where I thought it was going to go.
Happy Litsy Annaversary, @Cinfhen Thanks for the great giveaway!

The design nerd in me is going nuts. The first few chapters of this book is a lot of what I did my senior thesis on in college (color theory - in my case color theory and how it relates to theatrical design.)
This makes my heart go putter pat.
Probably a new record for me. I finished this in two hours. So so good.
I have a special place in my heart for the old, well-loved, much-read books from my local library. The ones with the old book plates in the front and the card catalog envelopes in the back.

I don‘t know why it took me so long to get on board with this. He just cracks me up.
Oh my goodness! This book was so so good! And just the perfect thing to read during a Nor‘easter!
Also counts for my book set in a BRICS Country (Russia) for @bookriot #2018readharderchallenge
Thanks for the tag, @Dolly ! Tagging @DebBates101 as a #newlitsyfriends for @squirrelbrain ‘s #litsygiveaway.
Snow days and a case of bronchitis enabled me to get a lot of reading done this month. I‘m over 1/4 of the way to my 100 book goal for the year and February is only just over! I may need to adjust that goal.
I think I remember liking the movie? I‘m enjoying the book so far, so maybe the movie needs a rewatch.
This is my #western for @bookriot #2018readharderchallenge
10 pages in: she did like Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, she didn‘t like Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. This author is already my friend.
One of my favorites that I could (and do) read again and again. I think this is out of print, though, so I have a hard time recommending it to friends.

I feel like I may be preaching to the choir on this one, but I really enjoyed this book. I was a little hesitant to start it because teen angst really turns me off (did so even when I was a teen myself,) but it wasn‘t too unbearable.
Day 6 of @bookriot February #riotgames challenge: #shortstories
McSweeney‘s 28 came as these gorgeous little books that fit together in a box and made pictures when viewed together.
Day 3 of @bookriot February #riotgames challenge: #nakedhardcovers
I bought this used a long time ago and have read it many many times. I don‘t know if it ever had a cover or if I lost it somewhere over the years.
I meant to post this at the end of the month but got distracted by roller derby. These things happen.
My #januaryreads. I read more in January than I thought I would, probably because there‘s a lot of graphic novels mixed in there.
Day 2 of February #riotgames challenge: #currentread
Because you know I‘m not just reading one thing at a time.
Today is all about sport: Roller Derby World Cup and reading prep for my first 5K this spring (actual running will occur when the derby games are over this afternoon.)
This book also counts for the “book about or involving a sport” for #popsugar2018 challenge.
Day 1 of @bookriot February #riotgames challenge: #shelfie. My TBR shelf, a yellow submarine, and some Beatles.
So so good!
(Also, a book with a fruit or vegetable in the title for those of you doing the Advanced part of the #popsugar2018 challenge.)
The book jacket compares this to Neil Gaiman and Kurt Vonnegut. That‘s a good enough endorsement for me!
