Just started this one today, another one of my spooky reads for Autumn. 👻👿🦇🎃 So far I really like it! The story is super interesting and I won't lie I kind of have a thing for main characters who are female vampires! *swoons* 😍💕📚 #catsoflitsy #littenkitten #moukou
Jack the Ripper is terrorizing London, with the twist that Dracula defeated and killed Van Helsing and is now the Prince Consort of England. And vampires live side by side with the “warm.” Great premise and I enjoyed most of it, but I found it overly bloated with characters and unnecessary storylines.

Now that I‘m rested & back at it again, I can post my review of this fabulous book. This “alternate history” story is a mashup of Dracula & Jack The Ripper & was fun from start to finish. In a Victorian London where The Ripper stalks the streets, Vlad Tepes has married & turned the Queen, making England a haven for vampires of all kinds. But something rotten is seething at the core of high society. #ReadHarder2019 #AnAlternateHistoryNovel
Woohoo! Six books in and I‘ve hit the 24hr mark of the #24in48 #readathon! I think this is the quickest I‘ve hit the time in the 6 ‘thons I‘ve taken part in, sometimes insomnia works for you I guess. Not that I‘m stopping here, I‘ve still got the rest of the tagged book to go & lots of time left. If I don‘t end up with #restingbookface🤦🏻♀️
I‘ve been so absorbed by this book I haven‘t checked in for a few hours. #Bk6 of the #24in48 #readathon is brilliant, I haven‘t stopped for even a snack for at least 5hrs. I‘m pretty sure I‘ll get my 24hrs at the very least, after this I think I‘ll be sleeping for 48hrs straight. How‘s everyone else doing?
I‘m 1 1/2hrs into #Bk6 Of the #24in48 #readathon & I‘m loving it! A mashup of Dracula & Jack The Ripper, it‘s set in an alternate Victorian London where Queen Vic has married the Prince Of Wallachia-Vlad The Impaler. Being a vampire is suddenly popular until a murderer called “Silver Knife” starts butchering vampire girls in Whitechapel. So far it‘s brilliant.
#BookMail Pt10 The wonderful @Liberty was asking on Instagram for instances of books she recommended that you‘d fallen in love with coz she needed to be cheered up. Well, her recommendations for the last 3 years have cheered me up quite a few times! This is the latest rec I can‘t wait to add to the list, her favourite vampire story of all time. So, thank you for all the joy you‘ve brought to my reading life Liberty.👩🏻🎤🤘🐈 #holycats
And the flowers are down
My view reading this evening. The air smells like flowers. The dog won't stop eating soil out of my pots...
I'm choosing pick because the story itself was brilliant, I just wish I'd been reading it in print!
Genevieve and Beauregard were amazing, as was Jack the Ripper in his madness. It took a little while to get going, and a little longer for me to get all the characters figured out, but it was well written and fun to read.
The name dropping got a little out of hand especially when the characters didn't actually feature half the time!
It‘s Vampire Day over on @bookriot! I wrote about 12 underappreciated vampire novels, including ANNO DRACULA, my favorite vampire novel. ☠️🖤🦇 https://bookriot.com/2019/05/07/under-the-radar-vampire-novels/
#TBRChallenge update 😊
Definitely getting the hang of the characters now, which is great because it's making the story more interesting 🧡 a little annoying that it took half of the book to get there though 😕
Can't wait to see what Beauregard and Genevieve get up to next with Jack the Ripper going mad 😁
#TBRChallenge update (because I'm actually gonna stick with it this time): tactical last minute substitution of The Chalk Man for Anno Dracula since I'm already a ways in 🎧
Its going well but I'm still a little hazy on some of the characters (far too many different English Gentleman) although I am 100% team Genevieve 🖤
Right now I'm in the mood for some sci-fi though so I'm gonna give Stars Uncharted a go ⭐🌟⭐
Happy reading! ❤💜💙
Getting a start on my #TBRChallenge with this audio book 🎧
I'm enjoying the story, but I'm struggling to get the characters straight in my head. Genevieve and Beauregard (most of the time) I can follow, but there are so many minor (I think) characters that confuse me 🤔
I'm sticking with it, but I'm thinking that this one would be better in print... even though I really like the narrator, there just seem to be too many English Gentlemen!
There are so many things I really liked about this book, and yet somehow, it just wasn‘t as awesome as I had hoped.
An alternate history, where Dracula is real, but Van Helsing failed to kill him... Queen Victoria has remarried and now Vlad is the prince consort, vampires are out and people are choosing to turn, England a bloody police state, and Jack the Ripper is at large. Continued in comments...
This was the Victorian supernatural classic equivalent of Ready Player One, but better.
The first important thing to note is that Count Dracula was not killed. Instead he has turned Queen Victoria and is now Prince Consort. The story then follows the Jack the Ripper murders and the way this world is changed.
This was fun, not perfect. It slogged a bit, especially in the middle, and I think it suffers a bit from 'first in a series' syndrome.
Dewey's Readathon countdown, Day 18: The prompt is "alternative." I picked two alternative history books that are great October reads: ANNO DRACULA imagines Jack the Ripper as a vampire slayer, and MAPLECROFT imagines Lizzie Borden as a monster hunter! #readathon #30DaysofReadathon ?☠️⚰️
I finally finished Anno Dracula - it was okay, but I was disappointed that Newman introduced so many fictional and real life contemporaries and then did nothing with them.
On a different note, I'm in a major book slump. For the third weekend in a row I haven't completed a single book! (Normally I can easily chew through two or three books in a weekend.)
Finally starting this journey today! This better not fuck up Dracula. Hopefully I'll be able to get a big chunk of this read today since I'm behind in the read along I'm participating in 😬
This was a pretty neat idea. Dracula as Prince Consort to Queen Victoria. I really like the juxtaposition of historical and literary figures. It was a bit of nice reading before I leave on vacation. And I'll read almost anything that has, "From the sick and depraved mind of" on the cover.
Mark: "I'm a tattoo artist and love creating worlds. This book sounds a bit nuts but it's drawn me in. It's set during the First World War and mixes accurate historic events with vampires and supernatural elements. What can I say, I love history and vampires are cool!" #london
If you're like me, you like to read scary books all year round! So I made you a list: 100 great books featuring ghosts and vampires! http://bookriot.com/2016/11/01/100-must-read-books-featuring-ghosts-and-vampires 👻⚰️❤️
Hanging out, rereading my favorite vampire novel. ❤️📚🤘🏻
