A friend to get us through today.
Been off litsy because I've been writing... but had to share some love for this book. So good so far. Keeping me company in this hotel lobby
Sunday morning reading. I'll be interviewing Mira T. Lee about Everything is Beautiful this Thursday, March 1 at Belmont books in MA. Come see us!
Sick as a dog today so I'm staying in bed and finishing some of the books I've read half of, but haven't finished. This one was pretty saccharine for me, but I admit I cried at the end... so I guess it won me over?
Finished Garp last night, loved it so much that I bought A Prayer for Owen Meany today at Mercer St Books in Seattle. #johnirving
This book is just as good as everyone says it is, but I listened on audio on the flight to Seattle so I don't have a picture. Did get my nails done this week though... 😜
A CMU student made alternate book covers for Rabbit Cake for a course in design she was taking this summer -- and she was kind enough to send them to me! This one was my fav. Check out the rest of her amazing artwork at izzystephen.com
Current reads/upcoming events! I have the pleasure and honor of reading with NJ Campbell in Ann Arbor next Monday 9/18, interviewing Gabriel Tallent in Westerly RI on 9/21, and hosting a bookclub at Newtonville Books in MA to discuss 2 AM at the Cat's Pajamas on 10/4. Exciting!
Ready to quit writing and manage Willie's modeling career
Someone here (hi @JanuarieTimewalker13 !) asked me about the dog Boomer is based on. Here is Harvey, the most wonderful dog who ever lived, and my inspiration for Boomer. I remember, on this walk in Alabama, an elderly couple stopped me to ask if my dog was smart enough to do their taxes. "Probably!" I said. He's the dog I thank in the acknowledgements... he died of cancer last fall. He was my best friend. ❤️.
Tagging along to Woods Hole this weekend. My husband has a conference til Monday, and his travel/room at this beautiful B&B is paid for by a grant ... so I'm making the most of it! Hoping to write 25 pages, read 2.5 books, run 12 miles, drink 6 beers. Will keep you updated on my numbers. (Currently: 0 pages written, .5 books read, 3 miles run, 1 beer down.)
Soaking up the last weeks of summer and finishing this ah-mazing novel. Definitely not for everyone, but if you like weird, this one's for you 🐬
Finished this lovely read this morning. Heart-wrenching, real, wonderful story about a family mucking through some tough stuff. And also comes with dogs and donuts.
Really loving Goodbye Vitamin on audio, but didn't realize it was only 4.5 hours long! Need more audiobooks to get me through the next 11 weeks of training... any suggestions? (I generally prefer 1st person narrators for audiobooks...just because they are easier to follow when I'm running at breakneck speed 😉)
