My March #WrapUp
I'm pleasantly surprised with the Cainsville series.
3½✨
I honestly don't even know how I got this book, but it's been on my shelf forever.
I started it without even knowing genre. But the initial start drew me in, and I just had to know if her parents were guilty by the 40% mark, so today I sat down and finished it.
I was pleasantly surprised with this one, I'll be on the lookout for the rest of the books in the series.
Thought I was really going to take to this series. Premise: Adopted daughter finds out that her real parents are serial killers in a creepy weird town. Finished and I cannot go on. Nothing revealed in this first book that makes me want to read on. Happens!
Neglected library Books, will you be the next that I read?
This is my #bookspin for October and I got about 100 pages in and I just….cannot do it. The writing is clunky, nothing has happened and I can‘t tell if it‘s supposed to be creepy or funny. It feels like a time suck and as it‘s a series and I know I will not be continuing, better to just move on.
@TheAromaofBooks
This had a lot going on and I was left with way more questions when I finished than when I started. What's the deal with Cainsville? What's with the Omens? Explain the gargoyles. Just give me...something! Looks like I'm going to have to continue the series to find anything out. Well played, Armstrong, well played.

This one has been sitting for a way too long. Time to finally dig in!
I liked this book, but feel like there are too many storylines occurring simultaneously. I think I will continue with the next one- but do not feel the urgency of “what‘s going on” I feel with books I love. #maybookspin #bookspin
The first of a long awaited but finally delivered #cozysandcraftsswap so happy it is here Heather!!! And it deserves to be savored in multiple posts! Thank you so much - I love every item you picked! I‘ve already sampled the #vegan snacks and can confirm they are yummy!
“When the plague struck Chicago, the townspeople here erected the gargoyles, and nary a soul was lost to the Black Death.”
“The bubonic plague predates Chicago by about five hundred years.”
“I know. I was very disappointed when I found out. Almost as bad as when I learned there were no fairies. The world is much more interesting with goblins and plagues.”
“Unless you catch the #plague.” #QuotsyNov20
Had to do a little cover searching for these ones

Olivia learns a truth about her life that upends her whole world, setting her on the path to living in Cainsville and investigating something close to her. This is a mystery with a dash of fantasy, though I suspect the fantastical element will be a bit stronger as the series continues. At first I was frustrated by the slower pace of this book, but ultimately I was happy, as it really worked for the story. I look forward to the next book.
I‘ve finished my pages for tomorrow‘s #botmbuddyread discussion, so I‘m heading into my #bookspin book! I really like Kelley Armstrong‘s Rockton series, so we‘ll see what I think of this one. I know it‘s quite different from that series. Let‘s get this #bookspinbonanza party started! 🎉
Ok, I‘m going in on #bookspinbonanza! I‘ve put together a mix of fiction and non and reserve the right to make changes before the numbers are drawn. 😂 I‘m hoping this will help me in my resolution to read down my unread books. 1-10 from top to bottom on the left, 11-20 on the right.
This was fun! I really liked the characters and I'm looking forward to continuing the series.
Is it weird that I‘m kinda sad that October‘s almost over? I can‘t believe we‘re already 2/3 of the way through #Scarathlon. I haven‘t matched my manicure to enough spooky books yet. Can we please postpone November, and keep October rolling ? 🖤 #HalloweenForever #TeamSlaughter

Cainvilles is a great series with murder mysteries, serial killers, supernatural, the Wild Hunt, slow-burn romance AND a tarot reading Aunt Rose!

Post a book cover you love everyday for 7 days, no explanation required. Try to tag a litten to join in too.
@IndoorDame if you're up to it 😊
The whole series is excellent!
Cue socialite Olivia who finds out her birth parents are convicted murders. She is thrown into a new world of paparazzi, stalkers and Cainsville; the town full of supernaturals. She is a reincarnation of an ancient story- one woman and her two loves. She reads omens in everything she does/sees.
A truly fantastic series- omens, visions, deception, betrayal and ritual. Well worth it!!
Damn it, Kelley Armstrong, you‘ve done it to me again! Well, at least this series is complete already (it is, right?) and I can get the rest and plow straight through.
Only complaint is that the dynamic between the female and male leads is recycled from the Nadia Stafford books, and is also being used in the Casey Duncan series. It gets old, but it works, so 🤷🏻♀️.
I wanted so badly to participate in #24b4monday but this weekend was jam-packed with family stuff. I got a good bit of kitchen time in, but embarrassingly little reading. This is from Friday and Saturday, and have done zero today. So sad.
At least my cookies are delicious.
When is the next challenge? Maybe I can plan ahead this time.
Finished this book up while eating a delicious butter chicken poutine 😊
I must say, I've enjoyed my visit in cainsville and I'm excited to go back in the next book. I like how these books seem to rely more on myths, fokelore and omens rather than telling you straight out that paranormal beings exist. It feels more like this could be going on in the world we live in right now, not another world.
I can't go a day without peanut butter, coffee and books 🤷
But for real....I'm finishing this book today!
Today's agenda includes cuddling with this cutie and possibly finishing this book I started yesterday? It's so good!! It's been awhile since I've read a Kelley Armstrong book, but wow. I forgot how much I loved her writing and her characters. Can not put this book down!
Enjoying my new book from Bookoutlet.ca 😁 Got 4 Kelley Armstrong books (2 of them hardcover) for $32 with shipping! #win #barginbooks
Now to sip my tea on this cool summer night & dive into the cainsville series! 🍵📖🍪
Boyfriend is in his favourite store (home depot) so I'm spending some time in the car, digging into a new series!
If the first book in this series is any indication (an omen, perhaps? 😉), I think I can throw out any tentative #JuneTBR plans and admit that what's most likely to happen is that I'll be spending the rest of the month in Cainsville. I just started this book last night and have spent this afternoon unable to put it down! #ReadingResolutions
Loved loved loved. I was utterly drawn in from the beginning. This book had everything I wanted and it kept me interested enough that I‘m picking up book 2 rather than going on to something else. I love the characters, I love the plot, and I‘m really looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Such a beautiful autumn day, decided to breakout my Kelley Armstrong book bag and walk to the library to return some books. #ilovefall #librarygirl 🤓🍁
Diving into this series soon! I have two versions of Omens. One is this beautiful cover right here, and the other is the more ominous looking cover. The latter matches the rest of my set, but this was too pretty to pass up!
I found this one in the Horror section of Indigo and I am very confused how they came to that conclusion. There was ONE scene over 100 pages in that could even be considered horror and it was a dream sequence. Ugh. My boyfriend wants me to keep trying with this one, but no, I can't do it, not even for you sweetie. #kelleyarmstrong #omens #welcometocainsville #urbanfantasy? #nothorror #bailbooks #dnf
Question: how long do you give a book to "get good"?
I'm considering bailing on this one, but the goodreads reviews keep pushing forward with promises that my patience will pay off.
Pretty neat winning a signed book mark and then sent a handful more. Love Kelley Armstrong!!
This just wasn't a good fit for me. When I read fiction, I enjoy connecting with characters, and Olivia just wasn't developed enough for her decisions to make sense to me. The plot frustrated me because everything was just a little TOO convenient. I didn't fully finish this one, but I came close so I won't mark it as DNF.

Outside of reading, cooking is one of my favourite things to do! I follow a (mostly) pescatarian diet, and I love to experiment with different veggies. Tonight's dinner was garlic cod, roasted sweet potato and a balsamic spinach salad with fried onions. A good book on the side, of course! #foodie #dinnerandabook
Happy 23rd 🎂 to me! Starting the day off in the best way I know how. Solo used book shopping, vegetarian Chinese buffet with my family and pottery painting with my boyfriend to follow. #dogsoflitsy #kobo #birthday
Switching gears from heavy memoirs to the first book of a creepy fiction series. This series comes highly recommended from my previous coworkers, and it's a heavy hitter for my yearly challenges. I have high hopes for this one!

I passed the Wildlife Rehabilitator Licensing exam! To reward myself, I got immersed in this first installment of the Cainsville series. I really enjoyed it! #womenauthors
This is the flavour of book I enjoy intensely a couple of times a year. I didn't get Olivia as a character and so I don't think I'll read on even though I'm interested in the central mystery.
It's cold and my glasses fog when I get inside #Dreamingofawarmerclimate
This book had a strong premise and it kept me turning pages, but the humor seemed out of place at times and the protagonist was a little immature. Armstrong hurried through the climax and the novel didn't resolve enough for me. I'd be interested to know more, but I likely won't read the 2nd book simply because I lack follow through with series. I'd still recommend! 👍🏻
"Evans‘s face exploded in a shower of blood. As his chair toppled backward, Maria put two more bullets into him." ??
Olivia becomes less and less serious as the story goes on despite the situation continually escalating. Her blasé attitude is starting to annoy me
One word: What??? Not what in a bad way but not necessarily what in a good way. The storyline is good but having a lot of difficulty figuring out if this is a YA fantasy or a Fiction Mystery. Kinda confused but not in a bad way.. ML
Just starting this book. Look at the awesome cover! Very Halloween appropriate.
My Recommendsday! The Cainsville series by Kelley Armstrong! A murder/mystery, with lots of fae folklore & Welsh fairy creatures mixed in. The first three were fantastic & the next is released in Aug. I personally can't wait to see what happens next!
I love Kelley Armstrong, but I have to admit I haven't read many of her adult novels yet. Though I didn't quite know what to expect, Omens blew me away. Such a great start to the series, and while she did a great job wrapping up the main plot here I'm still left wanting to know more. On to the next!
