Loving the writing style of this one, it puts you right into the gritty 1800s setting! And oooh, how fun! An Intermission!

Finished this beast! 15h9m on audiobook. Curiously different than the movie, I will be rewatching soon! 🦕🦖
Already loving this 80s-inspired dystopian that will soon be a movie!
Finally pushed past my reading drought! I guess my tip to anyone going through a similar situation would be to give yourself that break and then pick up something really fun and easy on a topic you really enjoy; for me it‘s movies... so a memoir about The Princess Bride made it hard to put down. For my next read, I‘m diving into a big thriller, that so far is keeping me engaged and excited! Can‘t wait to see how the ending plays out for this one!
Oh hey, it‘s been awhile! Five months if I‘m counting... 2017 was such a flop for me. I only read 16 books of my goal of 30; how embarrassing! 🙈 I had picked up three or four books and read about half, but just couldn‘t get out of a funk. Anyone else? 🤷🏼♀️ Starting 2018 with this (so far hilarious and quick) read about one of my favourite films. I‘m finding reading little bits at a time while I‘m working are helping get me back into the zone!
I'm super stoked to have found this little gem at a yard sale for a dime (but there's no actual title for this one because it's just an illustrated movie book)! I've never seen this before, and it's a little beat up, but in great shape for a book out of the late 1980s. This was one of my favourite childhood films. Definitely one I will be saving for future tiny humans to read.
Okay so I bought this cute little sign a couple of weeks ago and had it sitting on my bookshelf until I found a good spot for it. The other day I walked past this exposed brick in my kitchen and noticed my sign had found a new home on its own (but umm.. actually the perfect spot; how did I not think of this). I think maybe it was Dobby!?? 🤔💭⚡️🚂📚
Slytherin piece of the crest is slowly coming together. Loving my HP themed puzzle from my #summersantagoespostal book box from @TheKidUpstairs 🤓⚡️✨ Perfect for this rainy day at the cottage!
HAPPY SUMMER SOLSTICE 🌞 I have been waiting all day and rushed home to discover that I am LEGIT the most spoiled Litten! What an amazing package @TheKidUpstairs Thank you SO much!!! Complete with recipes related to the books and a super cool HP puzzle that I am taking to the cottage with me this weekend! Haven't read any of these books either 😍 @BookishMarginalia #summersantagoespostal #summersolsticebookexchange
The rules of the book exchange are to send it sometime in May, so obviously I left it to the last day. But it should get to its owner in no time! Hopefully my book buddy likes all my picks! My first book exchange has been fun so far, but I'm way too excited to open up my package in 21 days!!! 📦❤️📚 @BookishMarginalia #summersantagoespostal #summersolsticebookexchange
Well look what was waiting for me when I got back from my week-and-a-half long road trip to Tennessee!!! 😍😍😍 Looks like someone (@thekidupstairs) may have spoiled me! Can I peek??? 🙏🏼💌📚 #summersantagoespostal @BookishMarginalia
Welcome to McKay Books in Nashville, TN 🇺🇸 a book lover's grocery store. All used books, most for under $5. Could spend all day wandering around here 📚😍
This long overdue #breakfastbookclub at the cottage was more of a #brunchbookclub since @Jenshootsweddings and I had a nap after our early morning Flea Market adventures. She brought me Beignet mix from New Orleans, so even though the book was great, we spent most of the time talking about how good the donuts were... 😍🍩🦁
Carrie Fisher was a surprisingly funny, talented, and gorgeous human being inside and out, and the earth is sad to have lost her. I'm glad I chose to listen to this rather than read it. But I did have to speed it up by 1.25x, she talks a *bit* too slow for me. Bonus points for a bit of dish on her romance with the hunky Harry Ford 😍
I haven't read this since high school, but I remember loving it all those years ago. Only a few chapters in and this book, written over 30 years ago, is unfortunately a shocking reminder of current politics in the USA right now. Combating women's health and reproductive rights, scientific denial, and "THE WALL". In 1985, the book was described as a "mordant satire and dire warning". My, how far we've come.
I've been putting down a lot of books lately, not much has been piquing my interest. Even @Jenshootsweddings (the other half of my 2-person book club) and I mutually agreed to bail on our last choice. Hopefully this one as our new pick will get me back in motion. So far, so good!
Couldn't even make it past the first chapter. Way overwritten, too many metaphors, felt the author was trying too hard here. After checking in on reviews it seems a lot of people felt this way for the entire book, so I didn't figure it was worth slugging through. May be for some of you, but just not for me!
Oh just nerding out a bit today in Toronto with @Jenshootsweddings 🤓⚡️✨ Hey Jen, remember that time you refused to read HP and then I forced you to, and you were grumpy about it... and then you came crawling back saying how much you loved it? You're welcome 😘
Happy #internationalwomensday!
Celebrating strong powerhouses who don't take sh*t but still have manners 💪🏼🙌🏼 #amypoehler
This is one I have to read before I see the movie. But I better save it for another time, and not read it before bed. Even though it's YA, it's still horror and I don't want to wake up in a panic. Kind of like that time my other half recommend that we watch The Babadook before bedtime...
Oh boy... I was hoping to have read the book first, but alas I just couldn't wait, what with the Oscars this Sunday. What a beautifully heartbreaking story, incredible cast and stellar acting. I hope it wins something; I can't wait to read this book! 🎥🎞🍿🏆
I've been waiting a long time for this to arrive in my holds! Excited for a Sci-Fi Thriller 👽🚀📖
The sun is finally making an appearance today. Perfect for speed reading before these books are due back!
Since I love to knit, and it's hard to read a book at the same time, I've been listening to The Hunger Games series on audiobook. Not as good as reading, but awesome for multi-tasking!
💖 Happy February 💗a good stack of love to get through this month 📚
You know those people in your life who you lend books to, and then when you ask them for the book back they say, "What book?" or "Yeah I think I lent that to someone... I can't remember!" Yeah well that person is my mom and she has done this to me on more than one occasion, including once with this book (one of my faves). Finally found the same copy for $4 (and never lending anything to her ever again!)
When book club includes breakfast, and also includes your friend bringing and baking it at your house so you don't even have to get out of your PJs.
The book was a pass for both of us. We found her too complaining, despite the few funny bits. But breakfast was A+ 😋🥐🍳
I think everyone at some point wonders what it would be like to drop everything and get away from the pressures of life and start over as someone new. A gripping ride-along with "Tanya" as we slowly uncover who she is and what she did to leave in the first place, and her struggle to retain her identity and if she should forget it all or hold onto the past.
This is Indiana (aka Indy aka Dr. Jones). He's a 3 year-old Cocker Spaniel and is tied for first place in my Top Five favourite things in the world. He can't read but he's definitely the best reading companion, especially when the content is animal-related and I know there will be waterworks at some point 😭
Well thanks to @Jenshootsweddings for embarrassing me in front of everyone here, but also for getting me back into reading books, since I basically stopped after graduating university. (I seriously thought I'd have to read Marshall McLuhan for the rest of my life!) She got me this hilarious comic for Christmas that I know we can both relate to, because who wants to grow up and, like, have responsibilities? We also both love coffee 📚☕️🐶
