I really like this book when I‘m reading it but not one I rush to pick up if that makes sense 🤔

Bookzombie It makes sense to me. Some books I can‘t wait to pick up again and some are easier to set aside for a bit. (edited) 4y

Thinking of starting a reading project and reading a biography/memoir of each president (or the biggies at least). Starting with Jefferson cause he was on hand 😊🤷‍♀️

8little_paws I've been doing this. That said i'm only 3 presidents in. I need to pick out a book for Madison. 5y

This was a very good book. Not his best but engaging and fast paced. I really was impressed with the fact that King had no qualms about taking out major characters. I do wish that there was a bit more character development regarding Ralph. Loved the sense of dread that I felt as the story progressed but didn‘t love the way the very end seemed slightly rushed and I felt like King maybe grasped at some supernatural straws to wrap it up.

I really liked this book. I felt like the pacing was a little off though....it was very very bleak for 3/4 of the book then tied itself up into a nice neat bow right near the end. I really did enjoy how well fleshed out the characters were though. You got why the “bad” guys were bad and the “good” guys weren‘t perfect. It was a tough read and even at the end when they tied it up you knew the characters still had mountains to climb

In a book slump so looking for a book to “grab” me (hoping this is it because I now have too many in progress) and I just wanted to say what a lovely community I think Litsy is. I adore reading everyone‘s thoughtful posts about books because reading is one of my greatest joys.

APLitlife This is my favorite book of all time! Absolutely love it! One of the few books I actually felt like I lost friends when i was finished. Next read World Without End! 6y

I slogged through this book until about the 50% mark and wasn‘t sure I was going to get through it. I‘m not a big romance person but love history but it felt like the author was taking a piece of history and just plugging her story in the spaces and was so choppy. At about halfway though, the story focused more on the historical characters and definitely found its stride. I even enjoyed the romantic element lol. Will read more books by her!

Mehso-so

I am on the fence with picking and making this a so so review. I like the beginning and the end but there was a very muddled 75 pages in the middle and I kinda wanted to give the main character a shake a few times. She was a bit whiny and I found the story slightly......far fetched.

Finished it! I feel drained but what an amazing book! It made me feel exhilarated and melancholy at the same time if that‘s possible.....I feel like I know the characters inside and out. Their descriptions and the voices the author gave them literally brought them to life. Some people say this is the weakest of this trilogy. It was my favorite ❤️

This is the type of book to read on a rainy grey day but I finished it up on a sunny 90 degree day. It made it no less amazing. Haunting, sad but beautiful, I was fine with the time it took to unravel this mystery. It really was about the storytelling. It felt kinda like a dark fairytale and the imagery was so good that it played like a movie in my head. I can't believe I let this book sit on my tbr shelf for two years.....

Amazing, heart wrenching , and uplifting at the same time. Such a realistic account of someone trying to navigate their way through a loved ones mental illness while trying to maintain normalcy and not let it completely define their lives.

I can't even describe how much I love this book.....as corny as it sounds, the ending left me relieved but melancholy at the same time for what Fitz went through. Part of me wants to start the third in this trilogy but another part thinks I should wait to avoid becoming oversaturated and spoiling my reading experience. If you have not started this amazing book journey, please start now!
