On my 3rd Spellman Series book. 😁 I giggle so often reading these, it's the best. I've just ordered the two books for my book club's next meeting, both by the amazing Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. So, I'll get to more serious matters than Izzy's insane and hilarious antics when they arrive at my door step.

I didn't know Margaret Atwood until last year, when I read The Handmaid's Tale, which is one of the greatest books I have ever come across. I was maybe 15 years-old when I found this book at my home's bookshelf. I was immediately intrigued. It looked like many hands had held it, so that must have meant it was a good book. I'm pretty sure this was the first medieval-history-fantasy book I read, and it has informed so much of who I am today, and what my tastes, and dreams, and beliefs are made of. #strongwomen

So here I am having a pretty good time reading this series... It's cute, funny, snarky. Then the characters start watching Doctor Who (the new series) and making comments on the episodes, and now I'm having THE BEST TIME EVER! HECK YEAH! No one I know watches Doctor Who (I tried to make my husband watch it, but he didn't go past the Christopher Ecclestone series), so now I feel like Izzy and I really are best friends. #doctorwho

so-soI did it!!! I finished this drag of a book! Don't get me wrong, it's a superbly well written and researched story, but it's a tough, exhausting read. I joked that it was my Everest, and it turns out it really was. Reaching the end felt like climbing a mountain. On the really bright side though, my Latin skills are sharp now! De te fabula narratur. 😉

pickLoved this book. I felt like I was right there in the 1930s Papua New Guinea. It also managed to spark my interest in anthropology, which until now was slim at best. The book had some weaknesses. I couldn't understand why the author chose to make Nell such a complacent wife while being so forward thinking in every other aspect of her life. But alas, the book was great in everything else.
Very fitting that I should have come across this quote in these odd times we're living through right now. All I can say is that I hope I know where my interests are and that they are good, and kind.
