Squeaking in last minute with my #bookspin picks for June. @thearomaofbooks
(1/2) This book had a lot of potential, but just fell flat with me. It was somehow the opposite of a book you can‘t put down - more like the book you find yourself easily distracted from. The problem was there were so many complex elements to the world building but I never felt like I knew where it was going. #arc
Gotta jump over to my book club book to finish by Tuesday. Excited to read my copy from when I was a kid, especially now that I live near where this took place. Should be a fun follow-up.
Picking up my first #bookspin #triplespin even though it's a little out of order for #ARC reading. @TheAromaofBooks
Angsty mother-daughter relationship? Count me in! This book went in some unexpected but not unrealistic directions and was definitely a page Turner. Would make a great beach read. #bookspin #doublespin #signedcopy
Moving onto #bookspin #doublespin tonight - I can already tell this is going to be a quick read! @TheAromaofBooks
This book was more academic than I expected, not as a criticism, but a note that I will probably keep this around as a reference tool. Its amazing that in the short few years since this was written, I feel so much has happened in the feminist sphere that aspects of this feel outdated. But in general, this is a great read to reframe feminism & think more critically when engaging with something or someone who claims a feminist message. #bookspin
Excited for the push I needed to start this from #bookspin for May! I got it from the library when it first came out and then again from my Feminist Book Club but it never seemed to make it to the top of the #tbr pile. Here we go...
@TheAromaofBooks
Feeling annoyed with my picture loading this month but set with my list to see what happens with #bookspin in May! @TheAromaofBooks
Heard decent things about this so started it on my run this morning, but I'm already a little annoyed at the gender roles...we'll see if it gets better. 🙄
I would normally have waited to pick this up from the library but I decided that I deserved a treat...
As I hoped, Adams comes through again with a palate cleansing cozy mystery. The Book Retreat series has been my favorite of hers and this one doesn‘t disappoint. I loved the children‘s book conference that takes place throughout and everything about the setting made me want to visit and spend a week relaxing there. Pick this up as a breath of fresh air.
Ellery Adams' books are always such a fun palate cleanser read. Excited to start her latest. #arc #cozymystery
I hate to think that Vizzini has a good thought but this one is worthwhile noting: "Excuses are the refuge of cowards." #quote
Only took until page 9 to get that description of what this book is really about... 🥰
Realized as I was about to head out on my run that I needed a new audiobook to listen to. So far, this is just what I needed - mindless and light entertainment. Hoping it stays as predictable as I like for a running book...
It took me a long time to get through the audiobook, which isn‘t the books fault. But, I think that made it feel a little disjointed to me. I went into it thinking it was more of a mystery but I found it to be more of a character development story about Ana as she grows during the journey of learning about her sister. Under different circumstances,I probably could have gone up to a Pick but this wasn‘t quite there for me.
What a surprising book! I love slow burning, character centric stories and this one didn‘t disappoint on those points. Definitely glad I was “forced” to get through this right now by the #bookspin choice this month! @TheAromaofBooks
Starting my #bookspin for April. This is the book that has been sitting on my nightstand the longest, waiting for me to read down to it. So, its fitting to be "forced" to get through it!
Wowza...not sure how I feel about that headline. I could accept getting rid of work books, but this one...
Already liking where this book is going with this... #quotsy
It's not the best time to be reading this #arc since I've been working from home for over 3 weeks so far, but I'm still interested in what these recommendations are. I've already used aspects of her other books at work and liked them. #netgalley
Wow. I needed a captivating story like this. Totally worth the hardback purchase. I simultaneously wanted to read it every second of the day and also wanted the story to last longer...
Thanks @eggs for the tag for #friyayintro!
1️⃣ eek...growing by the day! 8-10 is hopefully what I'll get through
2️⃣ scrabble is an easy pick, but I also like Trivial Pursuit and Risk
3️⃣ not having to force schoolwork on my kid
4️⃣ nope, I honestly think the days all blended together and we didn't think about it

It was an epic #booohaul in the mail kind of day! Now, to decide what to start next?! Also, it nicely fits my #acrossapril for the day as #aprilrbr @Eggs
Not sure this is the best read for someone trying to put in 8 hours of telework and homeschool a precocious 7 year old, but it was next in the pile and is definitely some food for thought...
Today‘s #acrossapril was Children‘s Book Day, so I asked my daughter to pick her favorite book and this was it. @Eggs
#acrossapril for April Fools! I love how this book is set up to be the story within a story, so tagging it as #aprilfools for that. @Eggs
Light-hearted read that will leave you wondering whether our increasing reliance on technology is helping or hurting us. For our protaganist, Andy, its definitely hurting him-and reading about his adventures trying to detox was both enjoyable & cringe-worthy. The book won't change your life (I don't think!) but will give you a few hours of enjoyment. Thanks to the publisher for providing an ARC through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
Feeling free does not also stop you from feeling lost. The two emotions can sit beside each other quite comfortably.

Ready for something funny and really hoping I like this better than his book Fat Chance...
This was a cute and innocent love story. I very quickly liked Lottie & her attitude about saying no to all the things she didn‘t want in life. When she starts to have a stronger relationship with Seb, the story follows a pretty standard path but still kept me interested in their lives. This would be a great beach/vacation read to just smile and enjoy. Thanks to the publisher for providing an arc through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
This quarantine is helping me catch up on both books I need to read *and* beer I need to drink! #arc
This was the best kind of nonfiction book; reads like a great fiction story, complete with suspense & interesting characters but also taught me so much about cave diving. I'm in awe of her work, especially as she moved into conservation & I just love her attitude about diving & her role as a world premiere diver who happens to be a woman. She is clearly a rock star and I loved her story. I'll be recommending it to all my adventurous friends!
"When you survive a close call, your baseline has a tendency to shift in what is known as normalization of risk."
Oh yeah, as someone working in safety, man this is sooooo true.
I just love nonfiction with color picture pages! Also...this book is freaking amazing.
"Perhaps I felt additional self-imposed pressure as a woman. In the past I had been held back from opportunities because I was a girl. Even though nobody in this group had expressed sexism, I was determined to be as strong as any of the men." #quote #quotsymarch
I hear you, Jill...
So excited to finally be sitting down to read this. First page dedication and I'm already loving the tone. #bookspin
This book is exactly what it claims to be-heartwarming tale of a curmudgeonly older woman who starts babysitting a sullen 10 year old boy after school and how they change each other‘s lives. The first half didn‘t really draw me in, as I was feeling a bit tired of characters like Elsie, but the story got a little more real and I began to appreciate it a lot more. In the end, I was happy with how the characters changed;pleasant but still believable.
Sounds cute...hoping it isn't too curmudgeonly old person meets rough kid cliché
When you can't keep your eyes open to finish that book last night so you sneak the book into work the next morning to finish it. #booknerdproblems

"Important things hurt sometimes."
Damn, Morgenstern is just killing me with this book. #quotable #quotsymarch
Found this on Hoopla and giving it a try. Not super thrilled with the selection there lately and need to find some more things to put on my TBR list from there...
Anything is for girls.
Dang, now that I'm noticing all the good lines in this book, they never end. #quotable
"Like a tesseract except for space instead of time."
Man, I was already into this book but now a Wrinkle in Time reference (only my absolute favorite book)?!
"When she lands she is all curiosity and scraped elbows and dirt-covered eyelashes."
This may be one of my favorite descriptions of a little girl ever. #quotable
Been trying to crack this all day and finally ready to get going with it...
