Okay, we‘re finally at my Top 10 for 2020! #10 is #TheRavenKing. As stated in my previous post I‘ve really enjoyed series this year. When I read the first book I only gave it 3 stars but after finishing The Raven King I realised how much I had enjoyed the journey. 🦌👑

Getting to the really good stuff now 👀 some really high ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ books. The #TrulyDevious series is one of my favourite things I‘ve read this year. This year has taught me my favourite thing to read is a series. I enjoy getting to spend longer in a world 🌎 If you enjoy true crime I couldn‘t recommend The Devil & Harper Lee more.

AkashaVampie Ikr. I pretty much just read series. Its like bingeing a tv show.... u get more! 3y

Read some amazing middle grade and fantasy this year, all of these books were ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! So happy to discover #TheRavenCycle this summer and finally read my first #RuthWare. #Sadie was one of the first audiobooks I listened to this year and it set the standard reaaaal high. 🏅

#BestBooksof2020 a mix of 3&4 ⭐️. Read some great middle grade this year and some fun romances! #TheCousins also saw a solid release from Karen M. McManus and I was reaaally struggling through #ACoTaR because Tamlin, just no 👀

The countdown continues for #BestBooks2020 📚 all of these were a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me! #SawkillGirls was great fun and I really enjoyed being back in the world of #TheDevouringGray not sure we got many more answers as readers though 💭 It‘s been a big year for series for me, 44/70 I read this year were part of a series 📖 Any recommendations?

Radio Silence | Alice Oseman

Some popular choices on here coming in quite low 👀 #TheOutsider at no.58 #RadioSilence at no.55 #AristotleandDante at no.51 and a lot of the paranormal/magical books seem to either be down this end of my list or right at the other! 📖 4 ⭐️⭐️‘s and 6 ⭐️⭐️⭐️‘s.

Kicking off my ‘All the books I read this year‘ posts, in order of least favourite to favourite! All of these books were ⭐️⭐️ for me. My least favourite read of the year was #FinalGirls, I‘d heard a lot of hype around it but unfortunately found the pace way too slow and really struggled to make it to the end! 3 of these I also listened to as audiobooks.. I wonder if that had anything to do with why they ranked low 💭

Just 2 days left of the year and I‘ve decided to start this 😅 a bit optimistic that it will count towards the 2020 reading goal as it took me three days to finish Kingdom of Ash but here goes 📖 #ACoWaR #SarahJMaas

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loved being back in this world and the characters are so strong. Again, it slipped for me with the very thin divide to the human world and this time, the Undersea. Such an interesting setting that we didn‘t get to really explore and where nothing really happened! I would‘ve loved 50 more pages to deepen this. #HollyBlack #TheWickedKing

My first read of the year & one I have been recommended multiple times! 💫 It did not disappoint, the story moved at a good pace and the characters had great depth. The only thing I didn‘t click with, and I think most people would‘ve really enjoyed, was the link to the ‘real‘ world. Maybe I‘ll warm up to this as it‘s explored in the other books, we shall see.. ✨ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#56 #TheHiddenLifeofTrees #PeterWohlleben GR: 2/5 ⭐️⭐️ Honestly, there was nothing wrong with this book. I really struggle with non-fiction and I fell asleep a few times reading this on the train.. standing up. There were paragraphs I read and thought ‘interesting‘💭 but then the same point was repeated multiple times throughout book. Just not for me but I read it as I thought it would make a nice companion piece to #TheOverstory 🌳

Fallen | Lauren Kate

#57 #Fallen #LaurenKate GR: 2/5 ⭐️⭐️ This book was readable but ridiculous, I remember tutting and sighing a lot with every turn of the page. My feeling at the end was that Lauren Kate should‘ve kept this as one book and really focused on the story that happens in this book, instead the ending is unresolved for the sake of sequel and incredibly underwhelming. 😔

Beautiful Creatures | Garcia Kami Stohl Margaret

#58 #BeautifulCreatures #KamiGarcia #MargaretStohl GR: 1/5 ⭐️ So firstly on reflection I think I should change my rating to 2/5 BUT I like to rate immediately afterwards as my feelings on a book are still fresh. Paranormal/Magical Realism are my favourite YA genres and I think I struggled with this book so much due to it being SO LONGGGG, with a lot of unnecessary scenes. Would recommend the graphic novel though!

The Island | M A Bennett

#59 #TheIsland #MABennett GR: 1/5 ⭐️ What a letdown this was. I had heard great things about #STAGS so was really excited to read this. Everyone who‘s read this seems to have been letdown by the odd storyline (including overlooked sexual harassment), stereotypical characters and obvious ending. It seemed as if Bennett was trying to be self-aware with the stereotypes but it fell short. Also hated the Desert Island Discs theme (and I‘m a fan!) 🏝💽

FINALLY doing my #2019 roundup! For each post I do I‘m going to include my goodreads rating (GR) and why I‘ve ranked it in that position. #60 #NeptunesTears #SusanWaggoner GR:1/5 Dystopian fiction is always hit or miss for me, but this was a big MISS, the main character was incredibly dull and the author felt out-of-touch with the young audience she was aiming for. My full review is on goodreads!

Finishing off my final book for 2019 to make it a grand total of 60 books, 10 higher than my goal! Once that‘s finished I‘m going to rank my reads from #60 to #1, as it seems like a fitting way to wrap up a years worth of reading. #2019 #2020

One of my students made this amazing postcard of #RainbowRowell‘s #CarryOn! One of my favourite reads from the past year, was so gutted when I went into my closest bookstore on the release day of #WaywardSon and they didn‘t have any copies!

The cover on this is absolutely beautiful, one of my favourites ever! The theme to this book (more witchcraft 🧙‍♀️) is right up my street, I loved the beautiful setting and the use of nature but not so sure on the ending. This makes a really nice companion piece to The Wicked Deep!
