I‘m sorely tempted to overdo my #shortstoryswap package. If I do that, will I be in good company - or were people mostly good little doobies who stuck close(ish) to the $20 limit? There are so many good collections! It‘s so tricky! 😱

CindyE09 I am having the same problem. It‘s hard to stick to the limit but I don‘t want anyone to feel bad if they don‘t spend as much!! 6y

CSeydel I went a little overboard, but they are used books so it wasn‘t too crazy expensive. (That‘s my story and I‘m sticking to it) 6y

monalyisha Ha! @CSeydel Good to know! I feel like if the organizer went a tiny bit overboard, then it gives me license to do so, as well. 🤗 Nothing CRAZY. Just definitely not within the pre-approved limit. 🙈 I‘ve always been bad at this aspect of Secret Santa, too. 6y

CSeydel @CindyE09 Honestly there‘s no swap police that are going to check your receipts. I just made a budget recommendation so that if people send a modest package, their recipient will understand that‘s per the terms of the swap. If you choose to send more, you do that with the understanding you might receive less than you sent. 6y

Zelma I‘ll be honest; I had to take a break from doing any swaps and only made an exception because it was a smaller one. I hope everyone doesn‘t go overboard because I didn‘t (and I bet there are some other people in my boat). 6y

CSeydel @Zelma Totally! My intention was absolutely to keep this small. The expectation should be 1-2 books. I can‘t stop people from going overboard but everyone should be aware that 1-2 books is an appropriate swap! (I exaggerated when I said I had 6 books ... I am shopping for two swaps, and I forgot a couple of those are for the hometown swap.) 6y

monalyisha @Zelma That‘s fair! (My overboard is 3 books; I just wanted to make sure it wasn‘t strongly discouraged before sneaking the last one in my cart). I think @CSeydel‘s point is right; do whatever you please but if you end up spending more, remember the intention & don‘t expect that your received package will be more than a $20 value! If you‘ve never read any of his stories, you are in for a real treat. Humour black as pitch, with twists in the tail that make Roald Dahl look like an amateur

SeanMichael This sounds like my kind of reading. And short stories might be just what I need right now. Was just looking for a new kindle book, because my last turns out to be only available as a sample read. I hope this one is available! 6y

SeanMichael I keep finding the complete short stories of saki by hector Hugo Munro and the best of saki by saki. Are either of these the book you recommend? 6y

KateFulfordAuthor Either sounds good.... my book is really old so that edition is probably out of print long ago, but he was a fabulous writer, witty, acerbic, and clever. I hope you enjoy reading him as much as I still do! 6y

Sarah83 @Wanderingwithwords I think, I wrote it in another comment. 😉 I order quite a few from 'marketplace-sellers' at Amazon and I live next to the German-Dutch border, so I can drive to a little booktown with an English bookshop. The owner is an English man and he gets folios from time to time 6y
