I‘ve been surprised at how infrequently I think about the office now that I‘m retired. The people yes, but not the work. Except today! I used to say that #GroundhogDay was the official holiday, because of the tendency to do things over and over again. Especially the meetings! 🤦🏻‍♀️

When Phil‘s redemptive arch starts, it is mainly shown in his new appreciation and enjoyment of books. He reads poetry, quotes Coleridge and Chekhov, and then there‘s the beautiful moment when he‘s sitting by himself and looks around smiling after reading something amazing, like he wants to see if anyone else‘s world changed too.

I have definitely experienced that.

One idea in the Groundhog Day script that didn't make it into the final film was that each day Phil would go to the Punxsutawney Library and read a single page of a book and by the end he would have read every book in the library multiple times.

Hey! It was a garbage day! My littlest one is recovering from the flu and my wife got hit with it today.

But now my boys are asleep and I have made sure my wife has ready access to ginger ale, extra blankets, and Victoria on Netflix.

Time to spend some time with Phil.
