I somehow missed reading this classic when I was growing up. Glad I fixed it and read it now. Cute and nostalgic. Second book for #spookoween2022 completed.

Delightful!! Where was this book when I was a child and wanted to be a fairy's daughter. #ChildrensClassics2021 @TheBookHippie #RoaringWolf @Roary47 @Littlewolf1 read in one sitting
I don‘t remember ever reading the tagged book as a kid. It was a cute story with a happy ending.
I never posted my goals for #outstandingoctober
So far, I have finished a book & an audiobook, plus read Little Witch. My goals for this week are to read at least 1 audiobook, 1 book, & finish my current book (Under the Whispering Door). @Andrew65 #scarathlon #teamslaughter 6 pts @Clwojick
I enjoyed reading this classic children‘s book which remained in print for more than forty years! The illustrator, Helen Stone, studied in New York and Paris and received two Caldecott Honor Book citations. This fantasy is one of my favorites: a group of elves helping with the preparation of meals.
This book satisfied my desire to read seasonally, but without the violence and gore. #childrensclassicread2021 @TheBookHippie
I finished this one this evening with some kettle corn. What a great October read! I had never heard of this book before but am so glad I made time to fit in a few chapters every few days to join in reading it this month.

Such a great read! This is my favorite era of children‘s books. They do such a good job of drawing you into these amazing little timeless worlds, using writing and plots that are age appropriate but sharp enough that I want to read them as an adult. ❤️🧙📗

My first time reading this! Fun, with some unexpected humour that genuinely made me chuckle. It's a book of its time in terms of how it presents its good fairy women vs bad witchy women and I wanted some justice for the class of witches in general 😆 I was also a bit stressed out by how cruel the witch mum was 😩 *All of that* aside, this was mostly enjoyable 🙃🧚🏼♀️ Thanks for putting it on my radar @TheBookHippie #ChildrensClassicRead2021
Started reading this month‘s #childrensclassicread2021 pick on this cloudy rainy day. It was the perfect way to spend part of my afternoon!
Just picked up the book for #childrensclassicread2021! Perfect choice @TheBookHippie
What a fun October read!
I‘d love to be able to fly on a broom!

Thanks to @TheBookHippie for another wonderful #childrensclassicread2021 selection! I hadn‘t read this before but would have liked it as a child. I wonder if the kiddo will enjoy it…
A great way to start October!
My other #favoritechildrensbook. The little witch just wants to go to school and have friends but her mother wants to eat children. I love this book. Tracked down a copy of it a few years ago. Love it.
Sometimes, on the Friday of a not-great week, you need something easy. I found the 60th anniversary reissue of this (it's beautiful) wandering a nice little book store in Chicago. Reading it again I'm amazed at how evocative it is, and how thoroughly charming. This would be a great one to buy and read to/with elementary-aged kids. Also good if you're 50ish and love witches. And books with pictures. And Halloween.
