Neil Gaiman‘s Make Good Art is the speech I wish I‘d heard when I graduated as a naive, aspiring writer/artist. It‘s a perfect gift for grads but really for anyone who wants to make stuff at any age. Cause we never outgrow the need for encouragement.

pickThis was my one sitting read for #ReadHarder2018. This is a transcript of Neil Gaiman's Make Good Art speech at Philidelphia's University of the Arts commencement in 2012. I would read Gaiman's grocery list, but Chip Kidd's design added nicely to the text.
pickNeil Gaiman. Of course the content deserves 5 stars. He's amazing, this is inspirational, and now I want to make good art. But oh my holy hell, the layout and design is a nightmare. It is amateurish, difficult to read in many parts, and THE COLORS. THE HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE COLORS. Continued in comments.
It's ridiculous how long it took to find a book with #goodinthetitle for #aprilbookshowers. This one is always an inspirational reread. I just got to see Neil Gaiman when he came through on his latest tour, and he continues to deliver words of wisdom and insight.

Who knew that the talented Neil Gaiman could deliver an inspiring and motivating commencement speech? Never underestimate this guy.
This one is full of quotes to take with you. Maybe get it on audio and listen to it periodically when you need a pick-me-up. Its also done beautifully in book form. Great for a gift.
