pickA beautifully written novel from the point of view of the servant, I won't call this a re-telling as it is so much more than that. Nelly is a fully realised character who has relationships Mr Earnshaw, Hindley and Hareton. The story is heartbreaking at times, but relived by her friend, Bodkin. Although it is a spin off, I think that it would stand alone as a fantastic novel about life below stairs.
