Burning World: A Warm Bodies Novel
Burning World: A Warm Bodies Novel | Isaac Marion
37 posts | 22 read | 40 to read
In this much-anticipated sequel to the gruesome yet poetic ("The Seattle Times") "New York Times "bestselling novel and hit movie "Warm Bodies, "star-crossed lovers R and Julie a post-apocalyptic Romeo and Juliet must grapple with life among the undead. Being alive is hard. Being human is harder. But since his recent recovery from death, R is making progress. He s learning how to read, how to speak, maybe even how to love, and the city s undead population is showing signs of life. R can almost imagine a future with Julie, this girl who restarted his heart building a new world from the ashes of the old one. And then helicopters appear on the horizon. Someone is coming to restore order. To silence all this noise. To return things to the way they were, the good old days of stability and control and the strong eating the weak. The plague is ancient and ambitious, and the Dead were never its only weapon. How do you fight an enemy that s in everyone? Can the world ever really change? With their home overrun by madmen, R, Julie, and their ragged group of refugees plunge into the otherworldly wastelands of America in search of answers. But there are some answers R doesn t want to find. A past life, an old shadow, crawling up from the basement."

2✨ Its a 2nd book (normally not a fan). I loved Warm bodies so much that it took me a while to pick this up. It alone was perfectly fine! The story line here of the cure was very unique, and fun to read. It still has some main characters and they basically evolved more because their world is changing again. The element of Z‘s children is where I lost interest. Something big was further happening which will conclude in the last book in the series.

This had such a different feel to it than Warm Bodies did. I loved that R was still snarky and had some real moments of zombie wisdom, but the story went places I never saw coming (and don‘t feel like it needed).

Anyway, this was my #buddyread for #teamhendrix #scarathlon2021. Also #RoaringWolf (Don‘t Judge) and #wickedathon and #screamathlon

I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as Warm Bodies. As zombie novels go, it was ok. Nothing really new for the genre, unlike WB. It also could have told just as good a story were it half the length - took me 10+ hours to slog through it.

He didn't come to make friends. He's got fire in his eyes and a sword in his mouth and he came to cut the world in half.

Warm Bodies was the perfect little novel full of hope and new life. What this book, the second in the series, does is dig deeper into the messy world of "what next?" Julie and R's relationship is not going to be perfect, and they can't ignore the way the world is changing around them and affecting them. There is also the struggle of trying to figure out what's actually going on in the world, and trying to figure out where their place in it is.

There Burning World, a book that I absolutely loved, is out in paperback today. If you go to the author's website (www.isaacmarion.com), you can find it for $4 cheaper than anywhere else. #burningworld

There's currently a Thunderclap going around Facebook to support the second book in this series. It's being released in paperback tomorrow (3.6) and if it doesn't sell well, the publishers won't publish the third one he's writing....
So, time to show some love for R. ❤️ I never saw the movie, but the first book was fantastic!
Edit: Just ordered The HC and the novella on Amazon, which got me to $25 for free shipping 😁 (yes, no prime...)

jpmcwisemorgan How have sales been with the release of the ebook and hard cover? Have they been that poor that everything hinges on the paperback release? 7y
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage @jpmcwisemorgan It sounds like the hardcover and ebook didn't generate that much. I'll include the original link - https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/68194-warm-bodies-the-burning-world 7y
jpmcwisemorgan Thanks! 7y
Velvetsun I've had the second book since release day. We need the 3rd. ❤ 7y

This book was amazing. I loved Warm Bodies, but this one might be even better. A zombie series that is not without hope, without small amounts of joy, without, dare I say, optimism. I can't wait for the next in the series!

I'm 10 pages into this book and it's making me snort. I really enjoyed Warm Bodies, and this sequel is already promising.

This is one of those rare sequels that takes the base of the original ("Warm Bodies" lays the important foundation of understanding R and his condition and progress) and dives into a whole new layer. There's great action, twists, and tension as R remembers more details of his life before. I'm really intrigued to see how this series ends.

March was a mixed bag of a month. My Florida vacation ended in early March. I celebrated my birthday and one of my work guys birthdays mid month and spent much of the end of the month in the hospital with another one of my guys. Overall I finished 12 audiobooks, two print novellas and an excellent anthology.

Marion doesn't flip the genre on its head but instead takes on the classic Post Apocalytic road trip using that to examine the priorities of being human. Marions writing fluctuates seemlessky between crisp and breezy, and his dark humor takes center stage. Throughout the novel he pokes fun at his own book and the "Love will conquer all" theme. It doesn't break the zombie genre or even pervert it all that much but Marion tells a damn good story.

Stated this. Very excited. New narrator took a bit getting used to but not bad.

23 ~ The Burning World (The Warm Bodies series~Book 2) by Issac Marian (Kindle edition📱) ~ Started: 25.02.17 ~ Finished: 28.02.17
Rating: 4/5📚

I found 'The Burning World' different from the previous two books and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed finding out more about R's past and also more about Julie. There are also new characters introduced who were interesting and I hope to find out more about them in the next book.

Recommended.

This just arrived an hour ago, and im getting ready to dive into it. Warm Bodies is one of my favorite books of all time, so I'm a bit nervous about this sequel. In my opinion, WB didn't really NEED a sequel since I thought it had a perfectly wrapped up ending. But...I'm excited to see where Isaac goes with this. #currentlyreading
