Fire in His Blood
Fire in His Blood | Ruby Dixon
12 posts | 18 read | 6 to read
Years ago, the skies ripped open and the world was destroyed in fire and ash. Dragons - once creatures of legend - are the enemy. Vicious and unpredictable, they rule the skies of the ruined cities, forcing humanity to huddle behind barricades for safety.Claudia's a survivor. She scrapes by as best as she can in a hard, dangerous world. When she runs afoul of the law, she's left as bait in dragon territory. She only has one chance to survive - to somehow 'tame' a dragon and get it to obey her.Except the dragon that finds her is as wild and brutal as any other...and he's not interested in obeying. What he is interested in is a mate.

February catchup review 4:
Spent some time with Ruby Dixon‘s Fireblood series this month. I‘ve been meaning to read these since reading “Veronica‘s Dragon” in the Icehome series.

Dixon does steamy and “alien man treats her better” really well. I always get caught up in the romance. I also love how her series give us more world building in each book so it‘s not a big dump of info in the first book, but gives you enough to stay interested.

MeganAnn Book 2 was my favorite of the series so far: 14mo
MeganAnn Book 4 was also good, but I wasn‘t quite as into Amy as I was with Sasha and Emma in the previous two books until closer to the end. That‘s probably more of a me thing and by the end I did appreciate her story and felt she grew the most of any of the female MCs. 14mo

MeganAnn Book 5 gives us a bit more information about the dragons and I‘m curious to see what happens next. 14mo
JamieArc I discovered her Ice Planet series and have been making my way through them. My only complaint is that the same female and male narrators are used for each one and they are distinct voices so at this point, 9 books in, I CANNOT distinguish between all the characters. 14mo
MeganAnn @JamieArc I can see how that would get frustrating! Especially as they all continue to make appearances in future books. I read all her stuff in ebook form so I didn‘t listen to the audio, but that would probably make it harder for me to keep going if I had. If you haven‘t gotten to the Icehome series yet, I loved it even more than Ice Planet Barbarians (they are tied together with some of the same characters and overlapping timelines). 14mo

I‘m a fan of Ice Planet Barbarians, so I decided to check out the authors other series and I was not disappointed! A post apocalyptic world where dragons have mysteriously appeared through a portal and run amok. Our main character Claudia is a scavenger who is just trying to take care of her sister, gets caught and her sentence is to “tame a dragon”. A very dated mates premise that is a fun easy read. 4⭐️

TheAromaofBooks Sometimes you just need some slightly-ridiculous fluff!! 😂 1y
Nessavamusic @TheAromaofBooks Yes! I had Covid this week and couldn‘t focus on anything, this was the best silly comfort read 1y

Both main characters were likable but I would have loved to know more about them.

I love post apocalyptic stories so this setting worked for me. The world is ugly and dangerous but at the same time this book wasn't really fun - and that was what I expected by the author.

This gave some answers but there were some left open too. I am hoping to get more worldbuilding in the next book.

I enjoyed this #ParanormalLoveCrew December pick!

Years after the rift, where the skies tore and fire breathing dragons arrived in the world, people are living in a fiery wasteland in communities “protected” by militia. Dragons attack regularly, but the militia have heard rumours of a dragon tamed in another fort, and are using female prisoners as bait to try and recreate the taming.
Claudia is found by Kael, a dragon who wants a mate.

A post apocalyptic dragon romance...just the kind of trope I love and expect from Ruby Dixon. There‘s lots of steam, drama and shape shifting dragons looking for mates. It was just a fun book and I‘ll definitely be enjoying the rest of the series!

Post apocalyptic romance with DRAGONS! 😉 Taking a break from aliens and moving in the this series and finding it just as fun as Ruby Dixon‘s others. 📚📚📚

My first ever dragon romance ???

I picked this one for #RippedBodiceBingo because I read and liked the first book in Dixon's alien series, and this one was definitely hot (lol) but I noticed a lot of similarities between this and the alien one - "fated" mates, spunky chick that feels responsible for taking care of others, intense protective dude. Anyways, it was interesting.

This book. It was really charming overall and pretty ridiculous. But I still enjoyed it a ton ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love Ruby Dixon and her books never disappoint; but her dragon series is by far my favorite! Amy and Rast are such a good pairing. I fall for the main couple every time and then wonder how she's gonna make me fall in love with the next couple.I end up with a favorite; then she goes and introduces a new person you can't help but love and relate to in some way! Eagerly awaiting the next book. (By the way Fire in his blood is book#1 in the series).

I didn't know Dixon wrote dragon romances! I've been enjoying her blue alien romances, so am very excited to try her dragons. This cover is ridiculous. I love it. #romantsy
