Welcome to Litsy!

I‘m in Berlin this weekend. This is a memorial at the Bahnhof Friedrichstraße. It‘s called Trains to Death, Trains to Life 1938-1945 and it remembers the deported families. Most of them were deported to the East, where they were brutally murdered. Only some of them had the chance to flee Germany and to survive. Yesterday was the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. We remember.

Very good plot and with a very interesting point of view.

This book is very good. I appreciate the tone of the narrator(who happens to be death). This might sound strange but the book is set during WW2 and even in Nazi Germany. It follows a young girl, Liesil who‘s brother dies on the way for them to be adopted by the Hubermanns. This book is sad but beautiful and definitely worth a read.

I loved this book, it kept me interested the whole time I read. The only thing I didn't like about this book was how the narrator gave too big of hints about what is going to happen at the end. Other than that, I would highly recommend all to read this book.

This book is an overall enjoyable read, had a decent plot definitely a ride of different emotions. Personally not one I would re read, but I enjoyed the relationships between characters and the storyteller being death. I think there can be a lot of take aways such as appreciating loved ones and moments, making the most of situations because death is inevitable.

I think this book, it really show how hard life was during the time of war. In the book, showed that Max under the hard life because he is Jew. Also, the cruel of the war, that all of Liesel‘s family are dead because of the war. Overall, this is a great show the cruel of war, I like it.

I overall would give this book a solid 8/10, it contained the background of WW2 history and it showed how people of Germany were affected from what Adolf Hitler was doing.

An exciting novel filled with suspense and mystery with an interesting outlook of the life of a German girl living through Hitler‘s reign.

I thought the book was pretty good overall. I stayed interested throughout the book and I thought it was neat how the author used foreshadowing so the reader isn‘t clueless on certain details of the story.

This book is full of suspense and is very descriptive.

Historical fiction. This book take place in 1939 Germany during the time of Nazi power. She learns to read and love reading in a time of so many uncertainties.

I loved this book! It was really good! I liked it because it gave me a little bit of a perspective on World War II.

I think this quote is powerful, especially for the day and age did this book is based out of.

I like a story is told in first person by the kid that could be around the age that I could be teaching it gives perspective. It helps the children understand the holocaust better

In The Book Thief, a little girl named Liesel is placed in a new household since her mother cannot afford to care for her. Death, the narrative's narrator, develops into a person you admire and even feel sad for at the story's conclusion. The narration offers an odd viewpoint on the narrative.

I like this book because it is full of suspense. I never put it down and I like how descriptive it was.

This book takes place in 1939 in Germany. The Nazis have taken over and this little girl is taken to her new family. She leaned to read and fall in love with reading.

I liked it, but there could‘ve been some changes. It was sad and the progression was pretty gradual, but the buildup led to an underwhelming ending. I liked the writing style and the concept of Death being the narrator. It allowed me to grow emotionally connected with the characters and get an unbiased view of the storyline.

Overall I really enjoyed death narration of this book. However I thought the book was a little dark and slow moving. Overall I would suggest this book but it would not be one of my top favorites to suggest.

This book is just a great book that I felt like I had to work to get through, but it was worth it. I don‘t think there‘s many books told during this time period about German families. It shows that not everyone believed in or sided with Hitler. I really liked that aspect.
I found that Zusak had made me care about the characters and their fates. There‘s no doubt that this is a very moving book and I was close to tears once or twice near the end.

I really enjoyed the book. After I read it, I watched the movie with my classmates in our Novel class. While watching, I expected many things to happen but never did or there were scenes that were added to the movie. I enjoyed the book more than the movie, even though it had a slow plot line in the beginning. Once the plot picks up speed, it is a very entertaining book.

I mostly enjoyed this book. I thought the plot was good. I didn‘t particularly think the writing was impressive and I wasn‘t a fan of the amount of foreshadow used.

Such an interesting point of view from deaths perspective. Hans was by far my favorite but you get to know all the characters pretty well. Overall I enjoyed the read

I though The Book Thief was a very good book. I always felt the need to keep reading. I enjoyed how easy of a read it was , and I liked his use of short sentences even though the book was long. I loved that he wrote from deaths point of view. That was very interesting to me. Overall the book was great and I would highly recommend giving it a read!

The Book Thief…just WOW! It is so good! Death is the narrator, the place is Germany, the main character is a girl of communist parents, her story in Nazi Germany about living in WWII with a Jewish friend plus neighbors around her, and her love for reading!

There are no words in this world that can explain the feeling this left me with. This book was touching. And somehow, the only thing I can think about is how the character I disliked for most of this book, was the one who I missed the most when they died. Please read this book, for yourself.

Finally picked up β€œThe Book Thief”. Heard tons of good things about this book. Hopes are high with this one.

The Book Thief was really good, way better than the movie. Zusak did a really good job writing this, especially with having death as the narrator.

I really liked this book and the fact that death was the narrator. Felt so bad for Rudy. He deserved better. Overall very good.

This was one of the best books I have ever read! It was so easy to visualize the setting and the characters were so lovable and relatable! The choice to have death narrate the book was absolutely genius! I 110% recommend this book!

This is one of my all time favorites. It is written from a perspective you don't expect which makes the story better. The amount of times I laughed and cried with the characters is too many to count.

AMAZING book. One of the top books I‘ve ever read. Can‘t recommend it enough! Mark Zusak‘s words smithing will suck you in and have you crying by the end.

Very good read. Although a longer book, it captured my attention as the reader through the interesting narration and the several heartbreaking events. I'm not one for historical fiction, yet this book was very well written that even those who don't enjoy it much may find this book as something worth reading. Maybe they'll find their accordion through this.

FINALLY finished. It was amazing. Really. Words can describe how compelling it was..
