The Fairy-Tale Detectives
The Fairy-Tale Detectives: The Sisters Grimm, Book One | Buckley, Michael
In book one of this bestselling series, sisters Sabrina and Daphne are sent to live with their mysterious grandmother, Relda Grimm. The sisters learn they are descendants of the Brothers Grimm, whose famous book of fairy tales is actually a collection of case files. The girls are the latest in a long line of fairy-tale detectives, and their new hometown is filled with Everafters (as magical folks like to be called) - some good and some very, very bad. When a mysterious Everafter sets a giant loose on the town, its up to the Sisters Grimm to save the day.

I just can't finish this book...I've been poking at it all morning but find myself finding something else to do instead of reading. I've done laundry, dishes, and watched a college football game.

I've decided to let it go. It reminded me of Lemony Snicket in some ways-another middle grade book I couldn't finish.

I've got a stack of books I'm excited to read and decided not to push through this one.

Got my coffee, ASMR video, and a whole day to get through this book. I've enjoyed what I've read so far and hope that continues. Yay for weekend reads!

A low pick for this reread. Kiddo wants to binge the series, so here we go (although it took over a month for this one). Someday I‘ll remember not to do really labor-intensive voices/accents for books in series, as I‘ve now committed myself to Granny‘s German accent, Charming‘s snotty English accent, Hamstead‘s piggy high-pitch voice, and who knows what else. Counts for #MGMarch (number 6, I think) and #SeriesRead2021

Reggie Lol, sometimes it‘s in the delivery, huh? That‘s awesome. 3y

Finished this story this morning. I‘m on a roll! It‘s the beginning of the series and the cast of fairytale characters is extensive, and funny. It flows fairly well to an exciting ending. There is a lot of useful information after the ending - even a tutorial on writing a fairytale and a quiz! It‘s my free #25 on #BookSpinBingo. Only one book to go for my first BINGO!

LibrarianRyan I love this series. 3y

Now, honestly, I had higher expectations for this book, considering how much @icy2 was fangirling over it. And, at the end it was pretty amazing, and so was every other part, but not as good as I thought it was going to be. Still pretty amazing though! ( @icy2 don't kill me please)

#BookMail Pt7 Another book for Sophie, in this The girls are the heroes. The Sisters Grimm are fairytale detectives, out to solve all monster related crimes. I hadn‘t heard about this series until recently when I asked for options for bookworm little girls. This is Bk1 in a series which is up to 9 or 10 books now.

LibrarianRyan I LOVE this series. 6y
LorieL This looks super cute! 6y
Lizpixie @LibrarianRyan I think it was you that recommended it! I hope Sophie loves it. @LorieL I love that the girls are the heroes💕 6y

Third book for #24in48 #readathon

I finished this audiobook while I cooked and ate lunch. Super fun first book in a series that I will definitely be continuing. Part Grimm, part Once Upon a Time, but for a middle-grade crowd.

Mehso-so

The characters from all the old fairy tales live together in a small town on the east coast of the U.S., guarded by the descendants of the Grimm brothers. The current guards (a granny & 2 girls) start down the path to discovering what happened to the girls' parents, who disappeared over a year ago.
Meh. It's okay. Sort of fun, even. But not fabulous. Charlie loved it, though, and wants to read more of the series.

A fleshed out world that draws upon the stories we know, except that the stories we know are the tales of Brothers Grimm, not the Disney version. Add the skepticism of Sabrina Grimm and a huge mystery right off the bat and you've got yourself a story!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars for this fractured fairytale mystery book series. Girls in 3rd-5th will enjoy these, but a younger student who reads at a high level will ❤️ these books 📚 too. I enjoyed all the fairytale characters portrayed, & the storyline & characters I liked enough. Not amazing but enjoyable
