I didn't go to the famous bookshop in Porto (hour long queues plus torrential rain) but I did manage quite a bit of window shopping. This shop's display was marking the anniversary of the end of the Portuguese dictatorship.

Here are my #bookspin books for May.

I‘ve been reading through the Nancy Drew series for years and the Haunted Showboat is next. But never fear @Librarybelle when/if we get to this one for the #NancyDrewBR I have no problem reading it again.

I‘m trying to read from my kindle more so Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm it is. That way I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone: bookspin and #ChildrensClassicRead2024 with @TheBookHippie

The StoryGraph makes it easy to share my April #wrapup. Granted there‘s no info about titles or anything, but I‘m pretty lazy. Maybe later I‘ll post titles.

I don‘t read as fast or as much as other #littens, but I‘m pleased with my April reading.

Librarybelle I love the graphs on Storygraph! 6d
WorldsOkayestStepMom You don't have to be a fast reader to enjoy it! I haven't finished a book since February, but I'm enjoying the book I've been reading. 6d
Sace @WorldsOkayestStepMom I‘ve been working on it! My reading goals this year are to read more, count less and to just go where the books take me. I‘m trying to savor and not speed through. I don‘t think I read at all in February! 6d

Okie dokie. After much waffling I think I have my #bookspin list for May. I was trying to make it as open as possible for myself and less subject to monthly changes. I also have 2 “required” reads each month (In person book club and a postal round robin book club) so I needed to make space for “mood reading”.

Thanks for the inspiration @Read4life

TheAromaofBooks Hey Sara, just let me know if you have any other questions or if you want to be added to the tag list!! 😁 2w
Sace @TheAromaofBooks please add me to the tag list. I might not be able to play until June though. Do I understand correctly that we can leave books on our list from month to month if we don‘t finish them? 2w
TheAromaofBooks I have you on the list!! You can absolutely carry books over from month to month, or have a new list each month, or have some new & some old... this is SO loosey-goosey!!! I encourage everyone to use this challenge to help them read more, however that looks. Your list can be specific titles, challenges, topics, categories, book locations (like “living room shelf“), or even random things like “yellow cover“ - or any combination!! Whatever works!!😁 2w
Sace @TheAromaofBooks love it! My reading life changes seasonally so I appreciate the “make it work for you” philosophy. 2w

I suppose four of six I'd liked/wanted isn't bad?

The Enright and Grenville are good reads but not my favourites of their work - wondered if they were carried by their other books / body of work rather than this book? IDK 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

#womensprize #shortlist #nopleasingsomepeople

Leniverse Yes, I wonder the same. But honestly, that might be reason to longlist them, but not shortlist. I'm baffled. Especially about Dolly. 2w
TheKidUpstairs @Leniverse Dolly Maunder was a surprise for me, too. It was a good read, but nothing special. Definitely not Shortlist material! 2w

charl08 I'm rubbish at remembering to tag! @BarbaraBB @squirrelbrain 2w
squirrelbrain Yes, I had 4 of the 6 as well. And I‘m surprised about Dolly. I pretty much expected the Enright to be there though 2w
AnneCecilie I haven‘t read any Grenville before and find that Dolly is growing on me and is a book I keep thinking about 2w
ChaoticMissAdventures The Wren was the first I read of these and I cannot tell you what it was about. It had so little impact on me I cannot remember a thing. 2w
BarbaraBB 4 out of 6 is good but my two favorites are missing though! I still need to read Dolly! 2w
charl08 @squirrelbrain maybe I should reread the Enright. 2w
charl08 @AnneCecilie glad she has some fans! 2w
charl08 @AnneCecilie (Dolly, not Grenville, I mean - I've enjoyed her other books more) 2w

Thinking about starting a reading journal. Anyone else keep one? Any advice you will share with a newbie? Thanks, my fellow bibliophiles! #ReadingJournal

dabbe 🤩🤩🤩 3w
dabbe My reading journal is simple, but I love it. I choose 5-6 quotes from the book that have meaning and will help me remember it; I then write them in my journal. I'll even draw a sketch for a particular word in each quote. That's it. No analysis--just the quotes. One page of a journal for each book read. I can't tell you how memorable it is for me. It is my most treasured book that I own. Happy writing. 🤗 3w
