Had this on the kindle for ages but avoided as I didn‘t like the third book in the series but this one was a return to form. We learn more about the dragons and their culture as well as the wonder of the librarians language. I had picked this as my gaslight fantasy novel but it‘s a bit of a cheat as most happens in a different world to Irene‘s - one that is US jazz age all the way!
The irony of this being called the lost plot...feel free to disregard my review, or take it more seriously when I tell you I skimmed the second half. I love this series for interdimensional travel, library myth and magic, mystery, adventure, and the interpersonal tension between a few key figures. This book was WAY too much dragon politics, repetitive stymied action towards any goal, and NO VALE! The last few chapters do not make up for it. 1/2
Wholesale destruction of areas containing agitating enemy forces equals "...conducive to peace and good order." ? That's one way to put it! ?
Book 4 in The Invisible Library series
Did not see that(!) ending coming.
Mobsters, speakeasies, dragon drama, false identities, and books.

In the fourth installment of this series Irene and her more than faithful apprentice, Kai, find themselves in the midst of the territory of none other than the Queen of the Southern Lands, Ya Yu…and she‘s far less than pleased! Mod bosses, detectives, scrying, kidnap, deception, and loss. Worth the read!
From prior posts you could see I've raved about this awesome series. However, this one seemed to be straining a bit on the plot.
Bear in mind the series itself is brilliant, but I didn't find this book as breathtaking and page-gripping as the books prior it lacked the character arcing and the plot twists. Although, the sense of danger remained real, the foreshadowing remains excellent. A slight disappointment compared to the other books.
Fabulous sequel - enjoyed being in a 20s New York with gangs and mob bosses and prohibition and speakeasys. Kai and Irene are great characters - they work so well together. Irene is unstoppable and an amazing heroine.
This was such a intense adventure. And I almost cried at the end. My heart clenched and I had all the feels.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Vale wasn‘t in this much at all which I was saddened by, but we were constantly going so it there wasn‘t much time to miss him. Loved Kai and Irenes partnership and seeing them be protective of each other and yeah. It was good.
I adore these books and this one is no different. 😍 The writing is just so smart and moves so well from place to place. The characters are intelligent, and real. These books just take me somewhere else.
In this particular book, there are politics at play, more so than the first 3. But politics in a fantasy world always play out a little differently.
If you need to escape into a new world, these books are for you. You will not be bored!
"Irene made a private mental resolution that if she ever became a queen, her throne would would incorporate a cushion. Also a convenient bookcase."
❤️ Irene is my kind of queen!

So my mum and I hit the charity shops today to see what was out and about. She walked out with some bargain clothes and I.... forgot I was there for the clothes and bought books 🤭😂
The most expensive book of the day was £1, and at that price it would have been rude not to ☺️😇
5/5💚s
This quote from the book pretty much sums it up. Anything that could go wrong, went wrong. Conflict all over the place & Irene (main character) was there to “sort things out.” Somehow coming out on top in the end. It was an intense journey which FINALLY relieved some of that sexual tension, after building it up a ton more. Can‘t wait to read the next one in the series! *whew* I need a minute to de-tense after this one!
I finished this a few days ago, it is the 4th book in this series. I did enjoy it but wasn't as good as the others! #books #lovetoread
I always feel like I have to reread the first books in a series to read any new sequels. The site is a serious timesaver 🙌🏼✨: https://www.bookseriesrecaps.com
I almost forgot to post a review for this book! 🙈
This is yet another original story in this wonderful series! Some unexpected turns of events, that lead to long awaited developments; further building of the characters, especially the MC; clever solutions and intricate intrigues… I love this series! My local library didn‘t have the next volume, so it‘s already been bought and added to my TBR stack🤓😎
Strong story, very different from the ones in the previous books in this series. Enjoyed it just as much as the previous ones, so ordered the next book in the series as a late Christmas gift to myself☺️🤩☺️ Is there a better recommendation than that?😉
I didn‘t get very far with #litsyreadingchallenge but then I only started in September🤓
Had fun with it though😁🤩
Thanks for hosting @jessberk13 ☺️

Absolutely loved this book - now one of my fave series! Highly suggested for lovers of fantasy and action! Featuring Calli my new sweetie. #dogsoflitsy
Fourth in the #invisiblelibrary series. I‘m hoping #Kai isn‘t a punk this time.
Another daring adventure by librarian Irene! Dragons, wolves, and gangsters - what more could you want??
Unexpected twist! (Well. Unexpected that it happened so soon!)
Happy I‘m all caught up on this series and very much looking forward to it continuing. I enjoy Irene‘s gumption, the scope of the world building and the mysteries floating in the background. Yay books! (Irene would agree!)
Aaaand finally the most recent in the series (until later this fall anyway...)
Here's my stack of books for #DeweysReadathon. #readathon #readathon2018 #bookstack
Book 4 in the Invisible Library series. Just as good as the others though I kinda feel like this might be the last. I hope not! But that ending...
Lunchtime! Started this one yesterday. Hoping to read a bunch of it today.
I am so into these series! I wish there was a spin off book about the fae, it‘s such a fantastic concept!
tl:dr: An invisible library connects many worlds and protects books. One librarian and her Dragon apprentice are constantly trying to save knowledge while fighting fae and vampires.
Read this if you love the series and need to keep up.
Good: vampires, fae, books, zeplins, and magic, gangsters, prohibition Boston/ new york
Bad: not quite the goodness of the first two books. But better than third. Suspect next book will be good.
Librarians! Dragons! Gangsters! Dire Wolves! As usual, Irene and Kai are in way over their heads, and this time it‘s political. Which, since dragons are involved, is even worse than usual. These continue to be exciting and fun, and I hope they keep going that way.
Yay!!! I knew I had the three romances by @EloisaJames waiting for me but look what else came! I cannot wait to read The Lost Plot! Now I have to decide what to read first... 🤔
This book was amazing! It was everything that it needed to be! Entertaining, suspenseful, intense, witty, and wonderful! Irene manages to survive yet another crazy sequence of events (and this is the best one yet, I think!) Thank you for finally letting Irene and Kai be together, even though it took all of four books to make it happen. I need book five right now! 5/5 ⭐️
Oh my gosh I love this series so much! Irene is such a good character and the plots in the books are always so interesting and well done. I can‘t wait for the next one!
I love this #steampunk series featuring librarians, dragons, and the fae. This is my favorite installment yet as Irene finally finds herself in a few situations she can't just talk her way out of.
So excited! Can't wait to see what Irene and Kai are up to this time!
I LOVE THESE BOOKS. I enjoyed this one even more I think thanks to the absence of Alberich. Irene and Kai are the best kind of team, and the plot was riveting and full of action: mobsters, dragons, heists and subterfuge. 5 stars and cant wait for more Invisible library books. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🐉🐲📚📚📚
#friyayintro @jesshowbooks 1. The Lost Plot by Genevieve Cogman 2. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald 3. Vodka 4. Not a deal breaker as long as he respects the fact that I am a reader 5. 👍
Here's my #5in2018 most anticipated! Not easy and I couldn't find pics for the upcoming Simon R Green that would clearly make my list. Thanks for the tag, @inwhichHeikereadsharder ! I'm tagging @Bostonmomx2 @Gissy @Andrew65 @Owlizabeth
