I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

I‘m sure this book is well written and plotted but I adored the romance of the movie and I can‘t escape from the feeling that books on food should not have so much grossness. The ick factor for me is off the charts.

This is a quick read with a very intoxicating plot. This book can be enjoyed by the young and the old, the culinary experienced and the culinary challenged. A great story of personal, physical, and spiritual journey.

I enjoyed watching the film this fall, but I felt it could have been more flushed out - so picking up the book was a natural choice! I liked the topic, the multi-layered concepts of belonging and talent, and the exploration of what it means to sacrifice for a dream.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

KarouBlue One of those rare moments where the movie brings out the heart of the novel! 6y
thea-block @MellieAntoinette Yes! I definitely felt like the screenwriters were able to capture the feel of the book while not copying it exactly. Glad to read/watch some well-done adaptations! 6y

An utterly charming read about a boy from India becoming a top chef in Paris. I loved the movie as well though the details of each are different the essence is the same. Great imagery and descriptions of food.

CarolynM I loved the early part of this book but was a bit disappointed by the final section 6y
Victoria_Clyne @CarolynM I didn't have a problem with the final section but I can understand why others might find it disappointing. 6y

When a young Indian man finds himself in France with his family running their restaurant they are unprepared for the tension from the restaurant across the street.

Tensions escalate and the fall-out forever changes the life of Hassan Haji. What follows is the rise of an unlikely gourmand who changes French cuisine.

While the book was very different from the movie, I adore Helen Mirren and Manish Dayal, and I liked both.

Good book. I laughed, I cried, I felt for the character. Got a little lost in the culture but enjoyed it.

This is one of those rare occasions when the movie is better than the book. The screenwriter changed the storyline significantly. And I adore Helen Mirren 😍! The reader did a good job with multiple characters, using Indian, French, and American accents. The book is between a pick and a so-so for me.

Hey Littens! Any advice on pic editing apps?I‘m intrigued by all the fancy pics that I see posted and want to post more interesting pics myself.

[DELETED] 3803335244 I use PhotoGrid for collages. Otherwise just the picture I took, no editing. 7y
HOTPock3tt I downloaded the pic collage app. It just helps put pics together (and maybe a few borders) though, not really fancy editing 🤔 7y
Clwojick I have an iPhone, and I like using Square to fit full screen photos in, and PhotoGrid or Project Life for collages. 7y
aroc I loved this movie! 7y
thebluestocking I use PicTapGo for editing and PicsArt for making images square, adding text, blurring, etc. 7y

Day 12 #emojinov #💯This is the first book that came to mind for this prompt. I saw the movie first, then we read the book & watched the movie when my virtual foodie book club & movie club did a crossover blogging event. I liked the movie more-probably because Helen Mirren made Mme. Mallory more likable. I made a cross-over French Potato Soup with Cilantro Pesto & Curried Naan Bread Croutons as my book/movie-inspired dish. It was 💯% delicious! 😆

LeahBergen Yum. That dish looks PERFECT for this book. 7y

DebinHawaii @LeahBergen @jaimeisbionic @readinginthedark Thank you! It was a good soup and it's a fun book club (& a fun movie event too) but the downside is since it's virtual you just get to see the pictures of all the entries rather than toast them! 😏😆 7y

Day 23 #FallIntoBooks #ShadesOfAutumn It's 88 degrees F. & humid today so I definitely feel like channeling autumn in all its shades. I miss the changing colors of the leaves with the seasons-not that I'm complaining.🍁😆🍂These books are from my read & TBR stacks & I've tagged the title you can't see very easily. It's been too long since my orange chickens made it in a pic & I think they combine with the furniture to create an autumnal tone.🍁🍂

[DELETED] 206653737 I feel you on the high temps. Predicted high of 84 here today but I think it might have gotten warmer. Second day of Fall and I was wearing shorts. 7y

DebinHawaii @MidnightBookGirl Thank you! 😀💜 7y
Posemn Just so you know @DebinHawaii it is (and will be again today) 88 degrees in MN too. ?Not a favorite "fall day" IMHO 7y

Ps. I am not a huge fan of movie tie-in editions, but alas, I did buy this after watching the film.
Also 😍 Helen Mirren 😍

Lynnsoprano Such a great movie. I didn't realize it was based on a book. One more for TBR😊 8y

OMG Indian food! No one will resist long before rushing to the nearest Indian restaurant when reeled into this book...
While reading it & then also while watching the excellent movie adaptation, I tried to always have at least a papadam at hand to nibble on & maybe a spicy chai tea...
But it's about more - about passion for food (and life) in general, as well as being a great read!!

Took a while to get into this book as I'd watched the film recently and loved it. But the lyrical language of this book eventually drew me in. Best to read it without comparing to the film though as it's so very different.

I liked this book, but didn't love it. I think I liked the food descriptions more than the plot 😂🍽 I liked the Audible version - I think it made it easier to immerse myself in the book, but I felt the plot was lacking action during the second half.

Watched this movie last night and enjoyed it enough to add the book to my TBR. Would love to read all the in-between things movies have to leave out. A lovely mixture of Indian and French worlds, and I'm sure the food and setting descriptions are amazing. I'll give it a try!

SaraFair I loved this movie also! The actors were great and I loved the French setting. 8y
