The new thriller from #1 "New York Times" bestselling author Michael Connelly follows Detective Harry Bosch and his new partner as they investigate a recent murder where the trigger was pulled nine years earlier. In the LAPD's Open-Unsolved Unit, not many murder victims die almost a decade after the crime. So when a man succumbs to complications from being shot by a stray bullet nine years earlier, Bosch catches a case in which the body is still fresh, but all other evidence is virtually nonexistent. Now Bosch and rookie Detective Lucia Soto are tasked with solving what turns out to be a highly charged, politically sensitive case. Beginning with the bullet that's been lodged for years in the victim's spine, they must pull new leads from years-old information, which soon reveal that this shooting may have been anything but random. In this gripping new novel, Michael Connelly shows once again why Harry Bosch is "one of the greats of crime fiction" ("New York Daily News").

I had a list as long as my arm of things to get done today,I‘m too worn out. I napped and finished this Bosch.this time he‘s teamed with a rookie Lucia Soto who‘s dedicated & smart, as they dig into a cold case that may be linked to a robbery & a fire in an apartment building that factors into the life of Soto. Many twists and turns in this one.Always a satisfying read .

I suppose it's probably a good sign that I am not as skilled as I used to be at guessing at the beginning of Connelly's novels who's going to end up dead by the end of the book. Maybe it's a sign of Connelly's evolution as an author. A new problem I have: when the characters mention previous cases, I can't always remember whether I've read about the cases in previous books.

Michael Connelly is always a good choice. In The Burning Room Bosch is working on a cold arsonist case and believes he discovered a connection to a robbery occurring at the same time. Of course, he also finds some corruption. A good read/listen.

I ♥️Bosch. And in the absence of any real summer weather I‘m setting the date - June 25- where I can absorb some LA heat 👍🏼

I started listening to the Bosch series in 2018-& this is one I‘ve been looking forward to as it‘s the first in the series performed by Titus Welliver who plays Bosch on the Amazon Prime show! He does a wonderful job and while this storyline isn‘t the most exciting in the series, it does feel all new since it‘s not incorporated into the show! The ending reminds me of some earlier installments and I am looking forward to the next! #AudioColoring

TheKidUpstairs I haven't read any, but I've been binging on the show. It's great. I bet Welliver would be a great narrator, his voice is fantastic. 4y
TorieStorieS @TheKidUpstairs He‘s fantastic!!! I hope they eventually have him record them all!! 4y

Book #17 in the Harry Bosch series. Man, you can tell this is almost the end for Harry‘s career. But he‘s partnered with a young, Latina who has the gift...a great protege. They manage to 2 big cases including one that makes up a big part of who his partner Soto is. A classic Bosch story.

Superb writing like always. Started in the middle of the Bosch series and was not disappointed. Lucy is a great addition, and although her actions upset me to some extent, I found that I felt more connected to her by the time I turned the last page. Unsure where this book falls in the Bosch timeline, but it was still a fantastic read regardless. Highly recommend.

Not been a good week for reading two so so books 😒

Number 17 in the series for Harry Bosch and I just thought this one didn't really get going and I struggled to finish it. The ending was good though. Hope the next one is better.

Welcome to your new home, friends! #bookmail #bookhaul

Cathythoughts Oh how great ! I‘ve only read the first 4 .... soooo much catching up to do. What a great stack of Michael Connelly you have there 📚👍🏻❤️ 6y
MicheleinPhilly @Cathythoughts For some reason I find the Bosch series comforting. Odd, I know. 6y
Bookzombie @MicheleinPhilly I don‘t think that‘s odd at all. It‘s probably the characters. I haven‘t technically read the Bosch series yet, but I read The Poet, The Scarecrow, and all but the last Mickey Haller book, which are part of the Bosch Universe, and I find them comforting too. (edited) 6y

Cathythoughts Oh I totally get the comfort factor about Bosch .... he is a credit to Michael Connelly... must get back to him. Enjoy ❤️ 6y
MicheleinPhilly @Bookzombie @Cathythoughts I think it‘s just knowing the characters and the setting so well. So I know what I‘m walking into, so to speak. 6y
TrishB Total comfort reads 😁 I‘m up to date with them now and slightly sad that I have to wait for the next one. 6y
MicheleinPhilly @TrishB I think he has one coming this year, no? It‘s like a combo featuring Bosch and the female character he just introduced? 🤔 6y

Harry Bosch and his new partner, Lucia Soto, chasing an old crime but a new murder when the bullet that was lodged in the man's spine years ago finally kills him. Also chasing a person who torched an illegal daycare, killing most of the kids except Lucia (this is the incident that makes her want to become a cop). Fun to see Harry acting as a mentor.

@RealLifeReading
Bosch always gets the guilty ones 👍

KathyWheeler Looking at all these made me wonder if I ever met a Bosch book I hate and I have to say no. I've read all of these and, while some are better than others, none are bad. 7y
jbhops Bosch is my favorite of all time. @KathyWheeler I hate the Lincoln Lawyer crossovers. Mickey Haller does NOT do it for me. 7y
KathyWheeler @jbhops I don't hate the Lincoln Lawyer ones; I just don't look forward to them like I do the Bosch books. 7y

TrishB @KathyWheeler @jbhops Love Bosch 👍 I'm only just starting the Haller ones. I have also loved the new one The Late Show! 7y
KathyWheeler @TrishB glad to hear you're enjoying the new one. I keep putting off reading it because it's about a new character. I'll have to get over that. 7y

I just bought this album just because there was a song called "Blues for Harry Bosch."

Sace Have you seen the Amazon show? I love the music in that! 7y
youngreadrshelf @RestlessFickleBookSlut I haven't. I always love listening to albums or artists that are mentioned in the books though. 7y
