#12BooksofChristmas

Jason Reynolds was July‘s author for #aam so it‘s no surprise that one of his books is my pick. This is book 4 in his Track series, which I loved. All 4 were great. I highly recommend Jason Reynolds and not just because I also think he is dreamy. 🤭

Andrew65 An excellent author. 2y

A great finale to the track series. I would definitely recommend this series to folks looking for a bookish gift for an athletic reluctant reader.

I read/listened to this entire series in two days. Some of the best middle grade books I've ever read.

Thanks for the book @Soubhiville! And for including Jason Reynolds in the #Authoramonth2022 list. Now to read everything he's written.

Lu the leader. He knew he stood out and did so with pride and flair (so many gold chains). Lu had a good heart that wanted things to be fair. He was willing to lead by example and do the hard things.

Bookish Song Nr. 31: Rule The World

Funny how I've got a song for the first book in the series, and one for the last one. Fits, doesn't it?

Of course, the song could be for anyone in the group, but I think it's one for Lu. The song is more relaxed, more watching inwards, but is still coming with a lot of energy from the inside. Also fits him jumping hurdles and Coaches ;)

It's always hard to say Goodbye, but a good final instalment makes it a lot easier. It's a good ending, very good even. Lu took a little longer for me to really get into him, but he only needed a little more time.

See you around friends, 'coz the best never rest!

The final book in Jason Reynolds Track series was very likable. It shows Lu, and albino kid who loves to run on his school track team. When an unexpected pregnancy announcement from his parents happens, Lu must learn to balance his at-home drama, as well as his friend and track drama. This book represents how many children struggle to balance their school and home issues.

Review: Lu by Jason Reynolds, 2018, is a realistic fiction book about an albino teenage track star who faces hurdles on and off the track.
Blurb: I think this is a greta example of the genre because it includes different groups of people that exist in the real world that maybe not a lot of young children don't get to encounter regularly.

This realistic fiction book holds real and authentic narrative voices that helps put us in the shoes of the main character. It also gives us a rich story to follow with an integration of difficult issues some might find too hard to read for kids. But in reality, kids might be going through these things and they need to be exposed to something this harsh, in order to understand they aren't the only ones dealing with these issues!

This book is good for any kid that may be dealing with a lot on their plate. Lu had a baby sister on the way and also a lot of problems dealing with track and field. Throughout the book we see Lu coming to terms with himself and finding his true identity. This book is good for any kid wanting to understand more about their life and get a feeling of sense of how everything will end up okay!

This book is a great book for class. I would show this to an elementary class. I think it‘s a great book for kids to realize that you should treat everyone with respect no matter who they are.

This is a contemporary realistic fiction book. The book shows a different culture. The young boy was born albino which isn‘t very common. It talks about his struggles being different. This book will help children realize that everyone is different and you should treat each other nicely.

I liked this the least of the Track books & still got teary at the end, so that tells you how great the series is. This one is a great story about how finding out about your parents' mistakes & past can be really earth-shaking. So relatable. I did find the beginning slow & Lu hard to connect with. And Coach was extra cheesy. But in the end I really liked the story & I love the series. I want the whole thing on my shelf & everyone else's too!

tjwill Fantastic series! Sunny is my favorite! 5y

So sorry to be saying goodbye to these kids! 😭 This started off as my least favorite but halfway through, the waterworks started. Each character faced challenges in their own lives an on the track, navigating life and new skills. I recommend this to any reader, middle school to adults! #SeriesRead @TheSpineView

That‘s a wrap on the track series. I have a very exasperated 8 year old girl who insists Reynolds MUST write more. My favorite installment was Sunny, tick tick boom, with his ear for the rhythm of words. But, they are all good and we give 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Reynolds just has a way of capturing & conveying real life feelings and situations, and not just for or about kids.

Tamra P.S. We think he should add one more to the series from Coach‘s POV. 6y

Such a delightful finale to this series. Each book focuses on a different character on this high school track team so that, by the time I got to this one, I felt like I knew all the characters and it was a sort of reunion with my buddies. Personally, I‘ve always hated running, so it‘s interesting to me to read about people who love it and willingly do it every day. I love how Coach pushes them all to be the best versions of themselves.

Lu is the fourth and final book in the Track series. Lu the Lightning Bolt has always felt different, but he feels at home running on the track. With new responsibilities to the team and his family, everything in his world seems to be shifting, and he learns what integrity and family really mean.

Daisey I really enjoyed Ghost and need to make time for more of this series! 6y
