I don‘t read a huge amount of fantasy, but Draven is one of my top pick authors when I do. And this one doesn‘t disappoint. This one revolves around two people (Gilene and Azarion) who have been used and abused by their community/family and find in each other a kindred soul. Gilene is a fire/illusion mage, Azarion a famous gladiator and together they work to unite the oppressed to bring down an evil empire. ⬇️

"Behind the blue lurked...nothing. Only an abysmal emptyness, as if the goddess had created a child and forgot to bequeath it a soul"
Grace Draven never disappoints... this story grabbed me from the beginning. It can be a stand alone, however it is to be a series spinning off stories from other charters in this book. doesn‘t have as much of the romance that she is known for but the injustice that happens in the beginning hooks you creating a hope of vengeance I loved it and gave it 5 stars definitely a great read.
3/5
This is fantasy world with surprisingly little romance, given Grace Draven's other books. A lot of the main characters' characteristics reminded me of Radiance, which is possibly why the novel didn't feel super surprising and new to me. It was still good and what I expected, just not my favorite of her novels.
Wow, so good. The beginning is difficult to digest and there is much horrible treatment of various characters. However this story is epic in scope and a wonderful read. #romantsy #fantasy #glorytotheguild
Annoying Peri with another picture of her with a book.
Starting this one tonight. #romantsy #fantasyromance #currentlyreading
I preordered this because Grace Draven but I can‘t help but be a bit disappointed. It‘s still a pick and she‘s still crafted a layered fantasy land with complex characters but it didn‘t quite live up to my expectations. The pacing felt off to me and, my biggest gripe, the chemistry between the characters just wasn‘t there. Grace Draven usually writes such captivating romance fantasies but this was definitely fantasy with a romance tacked on.
A gritty and romantic story of Giline, a Fire Witch, who sacrifices herself every year to save her conquered village a horrific Empire and Azarion, a barbarian chief stolen into slavery, who blackmails her into helping him get free and get revenge. #romantsy (trigger warning as well)
This was such an amazing fantasy book that I really love and enjoy it. #fantasyromance, #bookaholic, #bookblogger, #booknerd
