This is my first Lane Winslow mystery and I really quite enjoyed it. Set in post-WW2 Canada, the characters are quite delightful, as was the mystery. Cozy but not twee. Will definitely be reading more from this series!

I haven‘t audiowalked in ages and this book helped me get back into it. I liked the setting - historical mystery set in rural BC. I liked the main character too - maybe because it was only the first book in the series, I wanted to know so much more about her. Both the mystery and romance fell flat for me.
This has all of the elements you would expect from a cozy mystery. It makes for a nice listen at night in bed. 👍🏾 I‘ve placed a hold on #2.
My only nitpick is the budding romance. Why must authors in this genre position every MC in the path of love? 🤔 I can see all of the scenarios from here already.
PSA: Anyone interested in a great historical mystery series with a strong, spunky heroine the first book in series (of 9 currently) of the Lane Winslow series is FREE today on Amazon Kindle (US). I love this series! ❤️
Finished this one on audio yesterday. I was surprised with how much I liked this historical mystery. It‘s set after WWII. Lane moves to Canada after the war to get away from the memories. She was a operative for the British government.
She moves and then she finds a murdered man in the creek. She of course is suspected and has to work to clear her name.
I like the set up of the romance and the mystery itself. The audio was good too!
A truly interesting setting - extremely rural British Colombia after WWII - is the setting for this cozy murder mystery. I didn't really connect with the story, but I am intrigued by the female protagonist's back story of intelligence work during the war.
A wonderful historical novel with just the right amount of suspense. Lane Winslow, a retired British spy from WWII teams up to solve a murder and mystery that started during WWI. Can't wait to continue the series and learn more about the town's eccentric characters. So glad I read this book Amy @BookishBelle @monalyisha #newyearwhodis
Got to spend Christmas money at my fave indie bookstore after browsing for awhile!
Such an interesting book - set in rural British Columbia after the second world War. Reminded me a lot.of the Three Pines Series in that the place becomes like a character in the book.
My kind of Birthday celebrations
Forgot to post that I received this the other day - looking forward to reading it! @Bookwormjillk @robinb #lmpbc @BookishBelle
It took me a month to read this...not because I didn‘t enjoy it. Life just got in the way. This was a delightful read... a much needed respite in my wild days of late. It was very well written and I already have the next in the series on my wish list. I‘ll be getting this in the mail today or tomorrow and I‘ll start my next #lmpbc book right away as my days are more likely to get harder than easier as the next month goes on.
Starting my next #lmpbc #round9 #groupm book! Thank you so much @robinb for the super cute bookmark! It has brightened my day! @Jerdencon @Bookwormjillk
@BookishBelle I know I‘m terribly early finishing my #LMPBC pick, but I just wanted you to know that it‘s ready whenever you are. 😉 No rush!

Great start to a new series for me! It‘s my pick for #LMPBC #GroupM, and I‘m so glad I chose it as I‘ve been meaning to read it for ages! I won‘t give away much detail (see GR), but I loved the interesting characters (in-depth development), the descriptive scenery (British Columbia) and the absorbing plot. Only cons were a good bit of backstory to work through (and I‘m sure more to come...and that‘s par for the course), and some abrupt POV ⬇️
I‘m so excited to FINALLY get to this mystery that I chose for my #LMPBC #GroupM #Round9 pick!!! 🎉🎉🎉 I have had it for a long time, heard good things about it but haven‘t gotten to it...until now! 😊😊

It is truly Fall, my porch is too dark & too cold at 6 a.m. Having my first coffee in bed does feel Luxurious though! I can enjoy the porch later in the day #porchlife
A Killer in King‘s Cove is like an English village mystery, except in Canada. Set post WWII, the characters have interesting backstories from the war that impact their every day life. Looking forward to seeing how the series, which is set in a small mountain town, develops. 📚 Bookish question: What are your favorite fictional small towns and villages? 🔎🌲🏔🔎

Loved it! Moving right on to the second book in this series. The Canadian setting, the fact that it takes place right after WWII and the mystery, all add up to a very enjoyable read. Now I drink my tea and read more of this series☕️
Sunday dinner...panini, salad and red wine + book. Sometimes life is just perfect! 🍷
Another freezing, cold day. What else is a girl to do besides drink hot tea and curl up with a really good book? ☕️So far I am enjoying the first book in this series. I love the setting, near Nelson BC, and the story is well written.
I really enjoyed this, it was just the type of cozy mystery I needed. Lane is a great character & the rest of the characters are well done too. I think it was a little long, but I have already put a hold on the next in the series.
Excited for my #bookishmail from Thriftbooks today! The first two in a new-to-me mystery series! I also managed to snag the third and fourth books on Kindle sale recently.
Maybe I should have read the first one before ordering the rest you say??! 😳
Now where‘s the fun in that I ask you??! 🤷🏻♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤞🤞

5⭐️My new mystery series obsession. Former WW2 MI6 operative, Lane Winslow escapes to the tranquil woods of Canada. Her cottage is in the idyllic setting of apple orchards, evergreens, a lake, and a quiet community. Until a body is found wedged in the creek dam. Her name scribbled on a piece of paper in the corpse‘s pocket. Secrets and lies unravel in a well written plot. Gorgeous scenic descriptions and overall, well done.🔍

What an enjoyable mystery! I loved the story and really enjoyed the characters and their interactions with each other. Can‘t wait to read more of this wonderful historical mystery series! I voluntarily reviewed a copy provided by the publisher.
