Joy For Beginners | 
pickI fell in love with this author‘s beautiful writing from a previous book (The Scent Keeper) and was a bit anxious that it had been a one-and-done love for me…totally not so. This is a story about female friendships, how they bolster and sustain, not just on the day-to-day but especially through the darkest times in our lives.
Seven friends come together to share a meal and the successful culmination of one of their own‘s life struggle. When 🔻
Forgive the intimacy of this passage, but this description of menopause and a change in life really resonated with me. 💙
While this may sound dark and depressing 😂, the character was actually thankful that she had experienced and was living the highs and lows of life…a complete life.
so-soThis was a pleasant novel about a circle of lovely, supportive friends. Each chapter focuses on a different woman from the group confronting her own special challenge. It was a bit contrived.
pickI think I liked it? Lots of characters to keep track of, and it took a minute to get into the story, but I did end up enjoying listening to each character‘s challenge.
pickJoy for Beginners is about a group of women whose lives are interconnected, and how they support each other. Kate has been encouraged by her friends to do something outside of her comfort zone. They, in turn, agree to let Kate choose something for each of them to do. This is the story of what she chooses for each of them and why, and how it enriches their lives.

pickGood story. I enjoyed reading it. It has a nice theme to think about and see how you can apply it to your own life.
pickAnother wonderful book from Erica Bauermeister! I love her writing style, and the way she gets to the heart of every character. The ending of this one I thought was truly beautiful.
“I think love is kind of like those waves out there,” she said. “You ride one in to the beach, and it‘s the most amazing thing you‘ve ever felt. But at some point the water goes back out; it has too. And maybe you‘re lucky- maybe you‘re both too busy to do anything drastic. Maybe you‘re good as friends, so you stay. And then something happens- maybe it‘s something as big as a baby, or as small as him unloading the dishwasher- and the wave comes ⬇️
Rushed home to throw on comfy clothes, and pop my headphones in so I can find out what happens at the end of this book. Bagels, cat cuddles and good books. This is what happiness is. ♥️🧡💛
Next up on my list of holds on Libby. Another light and easy audiobook to fall asleep tonight. 💕

pickDelightful, sort of a woman who assigns her closest friends something they are reluctant to do. Charming.
so-soI‘m on a roll here. Another book with 100% rating on Litsy that I was disappointed with. Granted, it would be hard for any book to follow my previous read, What I Loved. This was on my TBR pile so I‘m happy to get it off the shelf and out the door. It was just too contrived for my taste. I‘d pan it but it‘s too early in the morning to be so mean. #MountTBR

Finished a book club before book club - woo hoo! Loved this book and getting to know each of the characters. I'm looking forward to our discussion and seeing what my friends would challenge me to do. Maybe I'll start a 2018 goal list from it.

Mostly fiction, except for Julie & Julia, and I did have to include one of my very favorite cookbooks. Actually cookbook-wise I have about a dozen that start with J. Apparently there are lots of J-chef's: Jamie, Jacques, Jean-Georges, Joy Bauer & Joy the Baker, who start cookbook titles with their names. 😆🍴📚👍
