The Litten Path
The Litten Path | JAMES. CLARKE
6 posts | 2 to read
The Litten Path is a sweeping debut that provides an intimate view of the miners' strike of 1984 as it unfolds through the eyes of two families on either side of the struggle. The Litten Path is a novel of the strike as much as about the strike, knitting the intense emotional and political terrain of the famous dispute with the stark landscape of a small town in South Yorkshire. Written in a tough yet lyrical northern vernacular, The Litten Path is grimly honest and tender, comic and painful, a story of the clash between the urban and the rural, class frictions and the pressures of family. It is about what happens when a decision is made, when one cannot turn back.

Thank you for the fabulous tour of Harrogate's bookshops Helen. And it was lovely to see you and catch up.
Warning to other Littens - if you go into a bookshop with @squirrelbrain you will come out with many many books.
Book haul picture to follow.

squirrelbrain We certainly did stick to ‘The Litten Path‘ today didn‘t we?! It was lovely to see you again, and to meet Kev and Daisy 🐶 - even if we did abandon them outside the shops (they were both very well behaved!🤣) 4y
Oryx @squirrelbrain It was important to train them early to wait outside bookshops. 4y
rubyslippersreads You say that like buying many, many books is a bad thing. 🤣 @squirrelbrain 4y

An email from Foyles, highlighting independent publishers and this book caught my eye. Couldn't say why...

So I was browsing the new acquisitions on the library catalogue, and for some reason this caught my eye. Can't think why 🤔

It's about the 1984 miner's strike, is published by Salt, and actually looks really good!

Oryx I just made an almost identical post on this book! great minds... 😄 6y
rockpools @Oryx 😂😂 Took me ages to work out what Litten meant - just could not make sense of it! 6y
