272.
Very confusing at first (I find it hard to read comic books in general), started to make sense of the plot only around the middle. Starting with the backstory of Rev. Jesse Custer, it became perversely fascinating. The story is really dark. Lots of violence and gore, bitterness and anger. God seems to be a villain. Intriguing...
I really thought this would be my kind of comic, but...
The odd Briticisms that are put into American characters‘ mouths is a minor quibble and; the gore & violence don‘t bother me; but the unrelenting ugliness of the characters inside and out just wore me out.
The artwork has the heavy pen & ink style I remember from the eighties (off the top of my head, I‘m reminded of Alan Moore‘s comics and Black Flag album covers).
So, “Preacher” has demonic possession, a vampire, lots of skeevy people, graphic depictions of violence and gore... but the thing that makes me gasp? This background!
Checking the copyright dates and I see that this was done before 9/11– so completely unintentional as far as shock value goes!
One hell of a ride, absolutely worth it to the very end. Angels, demons, heaven, hell, feminism, a deformed-from-a-failed-suicide teenage vigilante, gunslingers, global conspiracies, philosophy, ethics, cannibalism, vampires, drugs, sex, rock 'n' roll, all centered around a mission to bring God to account for his creation. And yes, I left a TON of stuff out. Hands down, my-all-time-favorite comic book series.
You gotta be one of the good guys, son. ‘Cause there‘s way too many of the bad.
I‘m finally doing my reread of my favorite comic ever. I love this world and its characters.
Absolutely brutal in its art and story but that‘s why it‘s so good. Cleared up some noticeable disconnects from the Preacher tv show. Can‘t wait to eventually get my hands on book two.
Starting this one today. I really enjoy the TV series. Hoping some graphic novels will get me back in positive reading habits. 😊
My next beaded dragonfly craft, with a fiery background. 😈 My book exchange friend hasn't started yet on the Spider-Man comics, as I'm still holding Preacher for dragonflies.
A wild read, for the curiosity with some of the AMC show. 😅 Worth a quarter bit more than the language I hear at pub & grill work, doing a comics trade with a friend. The story and art is really great on gorey action horror! 🌩 I managed to finish this though today's thunderstorm. I was certain the power would go out at some point, but was spared. 🙀
A co-worker friend has been looking to do a comic books exchange, to borrow. I'll try Preacher, and he's looking for classic Spider-Man comics. I have a few that can be trusted to stay in good condition. "Are any of those my comics?" My Dad asked. ? "A few might be." I told him, "You put the hole-puncher through them." ? It shows along the side.

Hubby has lots of Preacher‘s 😁
⭐⭐⭐
I'm sorry @TricksyTails I really wanted to like this one! I'm giving this three stars just because the imagery is totally badass ☠️ I probably enjoyed this part the most, but the story and character development was just 'meh' for me. I will give an additional star for gran'ma because she is what nightmares are made of. ::shudders::
Well. What can I say? That was a wild ride! Not for anyone with delicate sensibilities, or for 13 year old sons who keep saying: “What? What are you laughing at? Why did you make that noise? I want to read it! You let me read Deadpool and THAT was bad!” ‘That noise‘ was a gasp, and there were quite a few! And I do have SOME parenting boundaries (just so you know 😉)!
Why has it taken me so long to start this show!? Cassidy is BAE.
#outofthisworldgiveaway This one Is definately out of this world! Thanks for offering this giveaway! @valeriegeary
For @lemonlime799 - hopefully Elliot lounging in front of the tv (to my occasional 'down in front' taunts) cheers you up a bit. 😸😘

Why are these just a little off? It'll bug me forever.
This is one of the most amazing graphic novels I have ever read. I am immediately jumping into book two! I watched the first season of the show and love it for its cinematic quality. I love the comics just as much. I would just like to consider them as two separate entities. What do you guys think?
Amidst the end of my move and work, I have to find time for myself. Watched the first season of the show and I know the comics are different so here we go!
I figured since the BF and I started watching Preacher on Hulu, I might as well jump right into the comics. There's just something about comics...😎.
P.S. I prefer Dominic Cooper as a Brit, but I'm not hating his southern accent 😋
This was an interesting start to a series. It wasn't what I was expecting AT ALL. I won't pick up the next book right away, but I'll probably read it in the future.
I haven't read a graphic novel in months! Starting a new series, and fulfilling the "middle of my TBR" category for one of my challenges. #aroundtheyearin52books #readingchallenge
Saw books 1-6 in the library, so I grabbed the first three. The Rosie Project is for the next book club gathering. If Preacher is good, will point out tv show to hubby
It took me a little while to get into this, about three issues within the larger volume. But once the story picked up, it really got going.
My hold for book one came in today. But what is this? One, two, four, five and six. WHAT ABOUT THREE?!? What kind of insanity is this?!? Why would they not have book three?!?
I think I'm in love with Jesse and Tulip...
I don't know why I stopped reading graphic novels but I'm sure going to start reading them again! This was an amazing ride!
some books and graphics I bought last month, some in brazilian portuguese...
I don't know anything about the TV series, but the graphic novel is top notch
:/
Not a fan. Gonna keep watching the show though, see if it turns out better.
Crazy! Violent, intense, and original. I really liked it. I wouldn't eat while reading...
Night time reading. Blood, gore, religion, blasphemy, Texas.
So this is what Arseface looks like in non-comic form...
Had my husband pull out volume one so I could read it before the show starts.
Trying to prepare for tonight!
