I confess I never really could get into this series. It was nicely written, and there was lots of action, but for some reason I didn't connect with it the way I normally do with good books. Oh, well, series done now.

Being in the mood to read something is important. I hadn't been for this book, so I put it away for months. Then I picked it up again two days ago and devoured it.
This ended up one of my favorite fantasy trilogies of all time. Powerful female characters who are so well developed and always changing, incredible worldbuilding with a sf element, lots and lots of action.
And what a finale!
An absolute pick.
5/5
Nice finish to the trilogy, I think I liked the second book the best though.
My library hold finally became available, so sneaking some reading in on this gorgeous day before I have to go to work. 📚💯🌞🌈
This trilogy was so good! The third book wasn‘t quite as good, but still a 4 star. The first 2 were 5 stars for sure.
Just finished The Book of the Ancestor trilogy and what an EPIC trilogy it was. The pacing is breakneck, the world is fascinating and the characters just get unapologetically more and more awesome.
Mark Lawrence is one of my favorites and he did not disappoint. Abbess Glass truly did play the long game, and it was rewarding to see throughout this final book exactly how far ahead she had schemed and planned. And Nona‘s loyalty to her was heartwarming even as she kicked butt all over Abeth.

I cannot recommend this trilogy strongly enough. If you love grimdark fantasy, if you love strong characters who show their humanity in every word and gesture, if you love a really good story, then the Book of the Ancestor trilogy is definitely for you.
Aww, my fierce little Nona!! I laughed, I cried, & I loved every minute of it. I kept putting this book off because I didn't want this series to end. I love these characters so much I just wanted to spend as much time in their crazy, little world as I could. This series introduced me to Mark Lawrence and I am looking forward to reading his other works
Anyone else get chills when this quote pioped up again. It takes me back to Red Sister. I am so close to the end. I don't want it to be over!!
Not moving all night!!! Now I just need someone to read to me 😂😂😂
Mays listening hours are up and I had a decent week, I got 11.5 hours of fitness in this week and banished a load of calories 👊🏻 (only banished, they may be back with some whiskey tonight 🤫)
The two highlighted days above I swear I didn‘t have my watch on that day ...... honest 😶😁

Week 3 is Hump week. Let‘s smash it 🙌🏻🙌🏻☝🏻

🤗 Hope you don‘t mind my real life adaptation 😂
1. I like to go by author, failing that I spend hours reading reviews.
2. There‘s not much public transport here but I do listen whilst driving to work.
3. MUSIC 😡😤
4. I don‘t really snack whilst reading, don‘t mind a whisky though. See above ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻 😂
5. If your reading this then play along 😊

Not a bad week, 1500 calories per day, 60mins of excercise per day and stand 12 hours per day. Nearly 100% this week but I‘m sure I made up for it in some of those other days.
Good effort everyone, week 2 is going to be the week I reckon 💪🏻👍🏻👍🏻 stay strong, keep smiling 😊 @wanderinglynn
Nona is one of the best characters I have ever read. The story was woven together wonderfully and the action was a physical thing that made me stress over characters I didn't think I cared as much about until I suddenly did.
Ummm...💀💀💀
Also, follow me on Goodreads, if you want (“Alyisha”). I mostly just copy & paste my Litsy reviews, though. 😆 I use it primarily as a TBR tool (rather than utilizing the “stacking” feature here, which I save only for books I‘d want to receive in a swap).
In this review, I said (jokingly) that I felt like Mark & I were thread-bound now. Which is *basically* like saying, “HEY MARK! I LIKE-LIKE YOU!” 😂🙈😳😅
This series felt tailor-made for me — magic, spirituality, & sisterhood, all wrapped-up in a f*cking bad-ass, coming-of-age package. Now that it‘s over, I feel wholly grief-stricken; characters I loved were lost in a savage war, & the stories of those who didn‘t die in battle are over, as well.
*Review cont‘d below 👇🏻
When your library hold comes in early!!!! #excited
I just finished reading The Grey Sister on the weekend and got the next one today... Yay!!
Read this one today - good ending to the series 👍🏻 Nona is a great character.
I had a lovely #selfcaresunday reading it.
Then the washing machine broke and I had to write a 10 page report for work, sort of ruined the mood! Now I‘m wishing someone would make me a roast dinner....

Helloooo! It‘s been a hot min since I last posted here on Litsy, dw guys I‘m back😇. How are you guys?
I recently read (devoured) Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence and it was an amazing ending to such a killer trilogy. My god it was intense and such a roller coaster do a read.
Who else here is a Mark Lawrence fan?✨
