Thousand Pieces of You (Bound for Schools & Libraries) | Claudia Gray
Cloud Atlas meets Orphan Black in this epic dimension-bending trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray about a girl who must chase her father's killer through multiple dimensions.Marguerite Caine's physicist parents are known for their groundbreaking achievements. Their most astonishing invention, called the Firebird, allows users to jump into multiple universes and promises to revolutionize science forever. But then Marguerite's father is murdered, and the killer her parent's handsome, enigmatic assistant Paul escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.Marguerite refuses to let the man who destroyed her family go free. So she races after Paul through different universes, always leaping into another version of herself. But she also meets alternate versions of the people she knows including Paul, whose life entangles with hers in increasingly familiar ways. Before long she begins to question Paul's guilt as well as her own heart. And soon she discovers the truth behind her father's death is far more sinister than she expected.A Thousand Pieces of You explores an amazingly intricate multi-universe where fate is unavoidable, the truth elusive, and love the greatest mystery of all."

My hand shakes as I brace myself against the brick wall. Rain falls cold and sharp against my skin, from a sky I‘ve never seen before. It‘s hard to catch my breath, to get any sense of where I am. All I know is that the Firebird worked. It hangs around my neck, still glowing with the heat of the journey.

I reviewed the other books in this series without realizing that I hadn't said anything about this one!! I enjoyed this start to the Firebird Trilogy. There's a hint of a love triangle but it's not the same as other because of the multidimensional aspect of the story. The guys don't have a stupid rivalry over it. There's work to do and they realize that. Our protagonist loses sight of it a little though.... it's a fun trilogy for a little escape.

#7Days7Covers #CoverCrush - Honorable Mention

7 days, 7 covers you love. No explanation desired or required.

Except... this one *kinda* has to come with an explanation. You see, this cover doesn't actually exist out in the world... but it was a proposed (and ultimately scrapped) design for the book tagged above.

I find it just as gorgeous and imaginative as the final choice.

It just couldn't keep my attention for the first half. I'm usually interested in stories of infinite universes & traveling btwn them. But I was frustrated that Marguerite didn't think through anything she was told, & the "everything would be fixed faster if we all just spoke to each other" trope. Once revelations happened, things got more interesting. What I did like was that it wrapped up the whole story by the end, & left me feeling satisfied.

jmtrivera I do like this cover, which is what attracted me in the first place. It was my #JudgedbyitsCover for #HalfBloodBingo! 5y

This book got me out of my reading slump. I fell in love with the different dimensions the story jumps through and each time looked forward to what the new world brings. I liked the main characters and can't wait to see what's next for them. It is a quick fun read even though sometimes the science behind the travelling among the dimensions does not exactly make sense.

Argh oh my goodness, this book 🙀🙀🙀 this was one of the first audiobooks I ever listened to, but I got a third through and it returned to the library, and I never got around to going back to it until now. Wow, I loved it so much. Time/dimension travel, romance, mystery, suspense - so so good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am usually a straight romance, needs a happy ending, sigh love story kind of girl but this girl Claudia Gray has got me hooked on sci-fi! SCI-FI!!!! I hadn‘t even contemplated the multi verse before this book. But really the underlying theme that struck me and hung on was the thousand pieces of a soul. Would you love all of me if you saw all the bits I hid? Love the book!

Book #175 for 2018, just under the wire!

The balance needed more sci-fi, less romance, but it wasn't bad.

I'm halfway through and still undecided as to whether the balance of sci-fi to romance is not heavy enough on sci-fi 🤷

It was okay. I guessed the plot very early on and I just slogged through the rest of the story hoping it would pick up. Unfortunately, rather than focusing on the adventure of traveling inter-dimensionally, the main focus was the love story which just wasn‘t that interesting.

It‘s an okay read, but it‘s not going fast enough for me. The emotional descriptions are a bit much for my tastes and I don‘t really care about the characters. Don‘t know if I‘ll finish this one.

This book I think matches that perfectly. What she leaned by jumping through parallel universes in that in every world she is connected to the same people. I don‘t think I believe in fate but this book does.

Though I‘m not a fan of the concept of “true” love and “fate” this book had a great plot and super cool concept of traveling through multiple different dimensions! Beware YA love triangles *gag* but I‘ll admit I was intrigued! Gray‘s writing pulls you in!
I finished the book last night on my BART ride to Berkeley and I thought that was appropriate for the setting of the book! Isn‘t this Train so clean and shiny?! 🙄

Uuuugh this book. I‘m forcing myself to finish it just because the setting is interesting. But then there are two other books. 😩 terrible love triangle. Took too long in one dimension so that some of this conversation is just head to desk annoying. I may have enjoyed this book far better if there was the same action going on in the first dimension they visited. I‘ll have a full review once I finally get this done...

Just finished this one at work during my break. A good overall YA. I agree with other reviews that though it dealt with traveling through dimensions, the author didn't make it too complicated for readers to understand. Very interesting concept. Fast paced and easy to read. I liked seeing some of the other dimensions, too.
