I‘m not sure how I feel about this graphic short story, I think it just was too short to get med to care.

I creature arrive at a castle where a woman is waiting. Told in drawings in black, white and red.

This spread reminds my, for some reason of, Alice in Wonderland

I really enjoyed the artwork in this, but I‘m not sure I got the full story. Maybe I needed a little more narrative, which is probably a me problem. #ReadSpooky2023 #Castle

Surreal, spooky, savage, sapphic, salacious. Love the art.

Carroll's art style says so much with so little. The monsters are haunting. Unfortunately, I wanted more from its nonlinear plot. It felt like it should've been part of a collection of short stories.

Emily Carroll doesn‘t need a lot of words to tell a tale. She remains, IMO, the one artist/writer that perfectly balances words and art in her graphic novels. This throw-back to the classic lesbian vampiric tale is sexy, disturbing and horrifying. She‘s an experience. When I Arrived is the perfect mixture of fairy tale and horror; it revitalizes the genre.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

While absolutely lovely, it didn‘t prove to be as narrative as I prefer.

Are you looking for creepy comics for the Halloween season? This might be exactly what you want.

It combines horror and fairy tale, with gore and a castle. Fun right? And fast, it‘s pretty short.

This is really just one vampire story versus several stories in her superior Through the Woods. Loved the art work but I didn‘t enjoy this story as much.

This #queer spooky #HalloweenRead graphic novel is full of beautiful art and an unsettling, sexy story about a vampire lady who lives in a castle who is visited by another lady who is half human, half cat. If this sounds weird, that's because it is. As my sister said when she read it: "I loved it, but I'm not sure I understood it." Definitely worth a reread. ????‍♀️?‍♂️? #QueerBooks #Comics #GraphicNovel

KT1432 I just recently ran across her other one. The artwork looked beautiful. 5y

Dark, sensual, vampiric. I only wish this short comic was longer! Definitely good for a reread around Halloween.

That was...that was something. Visceral. Stylish. Upsetting. The artwork is striking. The story was difficult to follow. Kind of like if Puss and the Ogre in Puss in Boots had a dream-like backstory.

Love the art, didn‘t love the story so much. It was a little hard to follow in places. Much prefer her book “Through the Woods”. #LitsyAtoZ:C

I read this on May 4th and gave it 3 ⭐️ on Good Reads. Lovely art but disappointing story.
