pickThis reminded me of something that John Green would right (reminiscent of Looking for Alaska and The Fault in our Stars). It is especially tough to read this book about a made up strain of TB and contagion amidst what we have witnessed in the world with COVID. I loved the characters and the coming of age story. Definitely an interesting book, but the ending was so rushed and kept me from giving it 5 stars.
So I'm not exactly killing #24b4monday but that's ok. I just finished the first book (which I had started earlier this week) and am beyond ready to start the next one!
Good morning Littens! I see lots of people are talking about #24b4Monday and even though I don't think I will make it to 24 hours, I'm interested to see what I can manage. Since it started yesterday and I sat in my car for an hour reading before work, I'm going to give myself a 1 hr buffer Haha. How is everyone doing?
pickI saw this book on Book Outlet and passed it up, but when I got an Amazon Girt Card for Christmas I just had to get it. This book reminded me a lot of A Fault in our Stars. Lane and Sadie both had TB and meet at a special school. They realize they want to summer camp a couple of summers back and become friends. The more the get to know about each other the more they like it each. I didn't see the ending coming and of course it was sad! 😢
so-soI just finished this book and I‘m did not expect this kind of story when I first started reading it. It was a truly traumatic experience. It‘s a story of these teenager who get diagnose with an incurable tuberculosis (TB). But in the end, a cure come along but not everybody makes it to the final stages to get the cure. This is truly a sad sad story, but a very powerful one. I would rate this book 8/10 because it was not what I expected.

pickI read this ENTIRE BOOK at work today! It was shortish, and I was on 1.5 speed, and there‘s something so awesome about unexpectedly reading a whole book in a day. 🙂📚

Absolutely loved this book even though I wished for a different ending.
pickHonestly, if I didn't have restraint I could've finished it in 1 day! This was solidly good- I learned something new in the first 5min so I'm happy the #ReadingWomenChallenge opened me up to this and to this author! I found the young romance in this much truer to life than some of the others that make me wanna gag or make me wonder if the author was ever a teen! 😂 i could guess the teary parts coming but it didn't make them any less poignant.
I started this #audiobook this morn to fulfill the #ReadingWomenChallenge of reading a book about someone with a chronic illness and I have not only learned so much but have enjoyed it so much that I'm almost finished!

How was this book? I seriously want to read it but want to know beforehand if it's actually good.
so-soThat's not entirely inaccurate, but I didn't find the writing nor the characters quite up to that comparison. The characters may be more realistic perhaps, but certainly less likable. Granted, these are special circumstances, but I don't believe circumstances excuse people's behavior, and I have a hard time relating to a main character whose version of carpe-diem involves enabling and encouraging friends to put themselves and others at risk.
I think most people dealing with a chronic, acute, or debilitating disease experience this. Sad, but true; dealing with the disease, coping with the symptoms, or sometimes, the treatment, seems to take over your life. Reminding the person of who they are, what they love, what makes them happy can help them reclaim their sense of self and their power. I have been on one side of that equation and now I am on the other. Neither one is easy.
Next read. I don't believe I have heard much about this book at all but I noticed it during the Amazon holiday sale, where it was described as "The Fault in Our Stars meet Eleanor and Park" and that was all I needed to press on the 1-click button ?
Plus I have come to see that all my recent downloads and purchases seems to be part of series, and I really wanted a stand-alone book. It was between this and Dark Matter. This won ?

pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book is a curl-up-into-a-ball-with-tissues book. Lane and Sadie will connect with you in the deepest way, and then tare your heart in half when you come to the last page. It reminds me a lot of Looking for Alaska. It lingers with you for a long time. I definitely need to read more Robyn Schneider!

With EXTRAORDINARY MEANS as my current read as of late, I can't help but be continuously intrigued over the integration of tuberculosis in the characters of the story, namely Lane, Sadie, and many others! The writing is beautiful, and I love how it's going so far 💓
