The Spiderwick Chronicles (Boxed Set)
The Spiderwick Chronicles (Boxed Set): The Field Guide; The Seeing Stone; Lucinda's Secret; The Ironwood Tree; The Wrath of Mulgrath | Holly Black, Tony DiTerlizzi
37 posts | 78 read | 19 to read
It all started with a mysterious letter left at a tiny bookstore for authors Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. Its closing lines: "We just want people to know about this. The stuff that has happened to us could happen to anyone." Little could they imagine the remarkable adventure that awaited them as they followed Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace and a strange old book into a world filled with elves, goblins, dwarves, trolls, and a fantastical menagerie of other creatures. The oddest part is in entering that world, they didn't leave this one! Five captivating books! One thrilling adventure! The Spiderwick Chronicles

I remember reading these when I was younger and never finishing the series. I'm finally starting it again and what makes it so much more special is I'm reading them with my sons before bedtime. We loved Book No. 1 and can't wait to start Book 2.

As a child I remember enjoying reading but not caring to, if that makes sense haha! I loved the Frablnklin books in Elementary and then when Middle school came around the Spiderwick chronicles caught my eye. As I got older I remember being drawn to the fun pretty covers and that's when I picked up the Princess Diaries from the school library. I remember thinking I was so cool carrying around that pink cover haha. 👑

I wish these had been around when I was a kid! I enjoyed my adult read of them, but I can tell these would have sparked that special kid magic if I‘d read them when I was young.

@Nazgul93 Thanks for choosing these for me for #TrappedOnAnIsland this month! There have been used copies of them unread on my shelves for years and this was the perfect moment to pick them up.

Can‘t remember the last time I read with an actual flashlight. Probably as a kid. But in honor of #spookyseason I‘m reviving the tradition. #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash @StayCurious

So far we‘re loving these. Book one is halfway done, and I‘m wondering how they‘re going to stuff more adventures into it. ‘Lil loved the movie and was so excited to hear they were books first.

LibrarianRyan This series is amazing. I didn't like the spin off series as well but absolutely loved it. When he is ready for a harder read, try Fablehaven. it starts out very similar to his series. 4y
SoapboxEdits @LibrarianRyan Thank you so much! I‘ll check those out 4y

Here's one of my most treasured possessions. When I look at them I'll always remember a most wonderful week in Mister Winter's homeland and a heavy as hell suitcase 🤣

LibrarianRyan I love this series. It‘s similar to fable haven book 1. But for a younger grade and it came out before the Brandon mull series. Series one is better than series two 5y
hannah-leeloo @LibrarianRyan I've never read them myself so far. I had bought my sister the complete set in a one book special so this is her original set I've received. I am looking forward to trying it. Thank you for your input 🙃📚 5y
TheSpineView What age reader? These might be a good pick for my grand kids! 5y
hannah-leeloo @TheSpineView @LibrarianRyan may be able to answer that better than myself. I'd imagine kids around the age of 10? Maybe 5y
LibrarianRyan @TheSpineView These are a beginning chapter book. Grades 1-2 depending on their reading level. A small step above Magic tree house. 5y

Obviously this was already a pick for me, but hearing Mark Hamill read these books has made me love them that much more. If you haven‘t listened to these, I highly suggest it.👌🏼

I haven‘t been posting on here as much lately, so I‘m going to do a few posts of updates. The first is The Spiderwick Chronicles. I was trying to find an audiobook to listen to while I cleaned last week, and stumbled upon this series. It was one of my favorites as a kid, and Mark Hamill does a tremendous job of bringing them to life. I‘m on book 4 currently, and totally loving it.😍 #audiobooks #audiocleaning #childhoodfavorites

This is the first of five in the series, and it explores the lives of Simon, Jared, and Mallory when they discover a brand new world all around them. This is great for older kids and a really good series to start off with if Harry Potter is too advanced for them. I also like that there are illustrations throughout the book.

This modern fantasy was written in 2003 and published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. It is book 1 out of a series. It is a story about faeries. It depicts adventure, fantasy, and magic. A great story for Young Readers.

Book 14 of the year finished Feb 10, Audio.

This started off so promising and then the final book was just off. It's like they had to rush to finish the series and the 5th book was just really disappointing. Books 1-4 are a solid Pick, but the conclusion really just killed the whole thing for me.

[#BookReview] The Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black & Tony DiTerlizzi. These books are so much fun and I am really happy I finally re-read them! This blend of supernatural and mortal worlds is really fun and I live the idea of these cool creatures being hidden in plain sight. This is an amazing series for young readers!

I loved these books. They're incredibly short, but they have amazing artwork and very interesting idears. If you like any of the old magical authors, definitely read these books. (I was just reminded of these books because I bought them from my library for a dollar. I was so happy.)

This is a fabulous series of books. I like the individual books but I just purchased the compilation of all five. Hopefully the size does not scare Jaxon away. And yes it is VERY different from the movie.

Leniverse That looks gorgeous. I read them with my daughter earlier this year. We haven't looked at the next series, or further adventures, or whatever they're called. I don't think the local library had all of those. 8y
LibrarianRyan @Leniverse I read the first book of the second series but it wasn't as good. And being that it an older series (for kids books) I could see where maybe they fell apart and they didn't replace them. Ask them to ILL them from another library. 8y
Leniverse Yes, I have since realised that I'm not limited to the three libraries in the county, I can have librarians search out books for me from all over Wales. I have been giving them a lot of extra work since I found out. 😁 If the 2nd series isn't as good, I'm not sure we'll bother. We have so many books on our joint TBR! 8y
