##Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView

1. I used to move constantly, but we've now lived in the same house in Vermont since November 2012.

2. Stoner - the title character moves from the tiny farm where he grew up to the University of Missouri, first as a student and later as a professor.

6-15-23: It took me a whole day to lovingly box up my books for our impending move back to Philadelphia from Florida. It‘s amazing how much I accumulated over the last 11 years living here. When we moved in 2012 I had 1 box and one bookshelf. Now I‘m going back with this! And there is a storage facility in Philly waiting for me with a bunch more. 📚📖💖

paper.reveries Exciting move!! What's bringing you back? 10mo
GidgetsTreasures75 @paper.reveries two reasons: My husband was offered a job at the school he used to teach at and it was too good to refuse and my oldest daughter is having a baby so I‘m going to be a grandmother, at 48, and I have to be home for that! 10mo
paper.reveries @GidgetsTreasures75 WOWZA!!! Congratulations! I wish your daughter the very best 🩷 10mo
GidgetsTreasures75 @paper.reveries thank you so much! 10mo

So my partner and I just got some good job news, and we have found out that we‘ll be moving probably in July. This is the most notice we‘ve ever had before a move which I‘m grateful for. However, one of my thoughts has been the dread of packing books. So I‘m doing a survey. Has anyone had to pack a large library (1300 unread)? Do you do a cull before you pack? How do you go about deciding what to keep? Also, any general book moving advice?

TheBookHippie I weed before -if I‘m never gonna read it- and pack each one in a ziplock because it keeps them safe 😅🤣🤷🏻‍♀️😝 then into a tote. 🙃 13mo
IndoorDame I always weed before I move! And I never put books in anything larger than a liquor store box because they‘re always sooo much heavier than I‘m expecting! 13mo
psalva @TheBookHippie Each book individually in a ziplock? I‘m not sure I ever thought to do that. Have you had issues with water damage at some point or is it just in case? 13mo

psalva @IndoorDame smaller boxes makes sense- I have a lot of magazines and books related to hobbies and the magazines were hard to move last time because I packed too many together. Good tip! 13mo
psalva @TheBookHippie @IndoorDame do either of you have preferred ways to weed if there are a lot of books you haven‘t read? I always worry I‘ll get rid of something and regret it later. Do you have any science in your weeding process? 13mo
TheBookHippie @psalva yes each book and yes water and dirt !!! I never weed classics 🤣😅but do weed a book if it was a trend 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️👀😝. If it doesn‘t sound good anymore. I know it‘s so hard!!! 13mo
TheBookHippie @psalva I do put more than one in a gallon bag … I‘ve only done 200 before so 🤷🏻‍♀️ that was for my daughter. When I do big weeds for school so use trash bags to wrap stacks and duct tape to get them to their safe destination. 13mo
Sleepswithbooks If I‘m not going to read it again, I‘m just hoarding. I‘d rather gift it to someone (or volunteer somewhere) where someone can fall in love with reading or the book can be enjoyed rather than sitting unread on a shelf. Books continue to live on by passing them on. I‘m moving in November so my unread books are coming with me and a couple books with sentimental value or favorites. I‘m slowly sharing others. 13mo

We had to leave NYC for a little while. But we‘ll be moving back as soon as we can. Until then, we‘ll be “Strangers In A Strange Land” living in a VERY red state.

All the books are packed and ready to go for our big move this weekend. 😬
*Only* 6 boxes for me, 4 boxes of SO's comics, and 1 box of kiddo books. Why do they seem to take up so much more room packed than they did on shelves? Send help 😵

JoScho Good luck with the move! 6y
vivastory Good luck with your move! I have no idea how many boxes I'd need for my collection... 6y

readordierachel @JoScho @vivastory @jfalkens @DivineDiana Thanks guys! (I bet littens could fill a few airplane hangars with our combined book collections, or we could build a giant book fort 😆) 6y
jfalkens @readordierachel uhh definitely, I have 600 plus books and hope I never have to move them 😂 6y
mrp27 Moving is tough, especially for people who live their books. Best of luck! 6y

1. 4 times as a child, 19 times as an adult (not counting moving in and out of college dorm rooms)

2. 3,637 miles - from Chicago to Belfast

3. Impossible to count! The last time I moved (from England back to Northern Ireland) we needed 2 trucks)

4. I hope not but I‘m willing to go!

5. YES. Because I‘m a grown up now and some things are ALWAYS worth paying for!

@JoScho

Amabear Wow!!! Why so many moves as an adult? 6y
JoScho Love your reason for getting movers! I am trying to tell myself it is ok to splurge on that this time around. 6y
Pamwurtzler @JoScho That‘s a totally valid reason. They‘re worth it!! 6y
Libby1 @Amabear - I‘ve moved all over Northern Ireland once I got here. At first I was a student and there were these weird 3 month contracts! I remember lugging my poor little goldfish from place to place, trying not to spill their water. I also didn‘t have a car. 6y
Libby1 @JoScho and @Pamwurtzler it is TOTALLY OK to splurge 6y

BekahB Ohhh noooo. That's the saddest, yet cutest face ever! My cats hate moving. I'm planning to move in about a month and I'm dreading their reaction to the change. 7y
BekahPat @TheLibrarian @DebinHawaii @RadicalReader @Soubhiville it is the saddest little expression. Soon we will be to our new normal and his ears will perk right back up. 7y
BekahPat @BekahB Hoping the move goes smoothly for you and your gut babies. This is my first move in 10 years and it is the pits, but I am looking forward my new place. 7y
