Enjoyed this book as I‘ve visited both bridges and love history
Based on historical research, Emerson Wood honors Emily Roebling who led the construction of the Brooklyn #Bridge after her engineer husband was injured. The Suffragist movement and P.T. Barnum are also integral to this story that needs to be told. Pic from earier this week. Leaving NYC tomorrow. Lovely trip with my high school senior granddaughter. #SavvySettings @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
Just finished this historical fiction about an extremely powerful woman, Emily Roebling. Late 1800s she takes over her husband‘s role as chief engineer of the building of the Brooklyn Bridge. Think about it…during that timeframe, women‘s roles were meant to be subservient to their husbands and fathers. Remarkable story, but fiction thrown in there too. The author tells you at the end, what was fact vs fiction. I definitely recommend this book.
Low pick. Overall, I liked this book but disappointed one of the main storylines was fictional. I really like books that write about unknown women in history. This one was a bit long and had a lot of unnecessary information, but overall I enjoyed it. Great pick for #LMPBC
Trying to relax and not stress about the oncoming snow storm. Supposed to get 20 inches tomorrow. I‘m home alone and will have to deal with the storm on my own.
Watching Golden Girls for the first time ever and switching between my 2 #LMPBC books

This was a pretty good book! Sometimes I don't enjoy the historical "based on true events" books but this was an exception. Great pick! I will get this mailed out next week since holiday mail is going a bit slower. ❤

@kellyann28 I am priority shipping this to you today. I‘ve been traveling, and I just returned home. Apologies for my tardiness! #LMPBC

Who knew that a woman had her hands in the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge? Good historical fiction with PT Barnum thrown in for some extra added history.
I started this a while ago but then set it aside for a few busy weeks. I finished it this rainy morning. I enjoyed it, and it made me curious about some aspects of bridge building and this time in history. However, it‘s also one of those historical fiction books that makes you wonder just as much because so much seems to be pure fiction.
Thanks so much to #Sourcebooks for the opportunity to read this with the #LitsyBookClub.

A great afternoon with the Litsy Book Club and author, Tracey Emerson Wood for the discussion of “The Engineer‘s Wife”. If you want to learn more about the building of the ironic Brooklyn Bridge and a fascinating American woman, Emily Warren Roebling, I highly recommend this book!
Thank you to @SoniaC and @tpixie for joining our discussion of “The Engineer‘s Wife” along with author, Tracey Emerson Wood.
This is a fascinating wonderful book about an amazing woman, Emily Warren Roebling and the building of the ironic Brooklyn Bridge.
Tracey has another book out on July 6th “The War Nurse”. Based on a true story, The War Nurse is a sweeping historical novel that takes readers on an unforgettable journey through WWI France.
This was very good - as a historical fiction it was just the right amount of history and fiction - It was a good way to learn about Emily Roebling's contribution to building one of the worlds most famous bridges and the role of women in the late 1800s.

1. I would like to meet Stephen King - not sure how far I would go - would depend on what type of meeting - to actually sit down and talk - I'd go pretty far!
2. Not sick, but I did call a snow day a few weeks ago when the University was doing another remote learning day instead - I did read a lot that day.
3. Looking forward to a trip to Alaska towards the very end of summer -

So looking forward to reading this one about Emily Roebling who helped design and construct the Brooklyn Bridge, though her husband got the credit. An ideal choice kicking off Greer Macallister's #WomensHistoryMonth project on her FB page. 30 days, 30 women, 30 books! #whowasshe #historicalfiction #womenshistory

I am a civil engineer and I am fascinated by the stories of the roeblings. So I liked this historical fiction version of the building of the Brooklyn bridge.

This book is about Emily Warren Roebling suffragette, wife time Chief Engineer for the Brooklyn Bridge project. Sounded like such a good book especially since i love the Brooklyn Bridge and history.
