This caught my attention from Goodreads. Such an emotional story, with great characters to keep it light.
A great diversion if you're looking for something out of your comfort zone.

I don't think I can find the words to describe this book. I cried throughout the story. I actually didn't expect the whole thing to be as emotional as it was. The grief hit me hard. It truly was a beautiful book. The author kept the story focused almost solely on Julie and Sam, everything else still related back to their relationship, which tighten the story and kept it from meandering. Symbolism was also present, whether it was intentional or not

I listened to this one via BorrowBox and I enjoyed it.

Read for reading challenges.

If you are looking to see if this type of fiction is right for you, pick up You‘ve Reached Sam. It does not go as deeply into the stages of grief as some other YA novels, and you‘ll be able to see if it is something you‘d like to continue reading.

I don‘t know if I was emotionally prepared for this one, especially that ending. I finished it last night, but couldn‘t sleep because I couldn‘t stop thinking about it. My heart aches for the both of them, knowing that they would have to say goodbye at some point, but something that you‘re never truly prepared for.

I‘ve started this tonight, and had to take a little break because my emotions got the best of me. This is a really sad and heartbreaking novel, but one I‘m ultimately enjoying

I really enjoyed it to start, but the more I read the less pleased I was. It wasn‘t a bad book, not at all, just not my favourite. The ending was the part that made me particularly upset, it wasn‘t final, it didn‘t wrap the book up. It wasn‘t sad, it didn‘t leave you with a sense of happiness, I just felt flat.

I‘m not going to lie, this one was a cover buy 🤷‍♀️ Isn‘t it gorgeous?

My June reading wrap-up!

Finished out the month with the Tagged book. It was interesting and different and very YA 🤷‍♀️ I did a buddy read for this book and we enjoyed it for what it was.

On to the next month ✌️. I'm starting with the first book in the Necessary Evils series by Onley James (Unhinged). Can't freaking wait!

I really loved seeing the obvious character development in Julie from how we met her at the start and how we said goodbye at the end. I really liked how the author showed that there really is more than one way to grieve and that everyone is affected by loss in different ways. I appreciate how the advice given to Julie in the book can also be used in the real world by anyone going through a hard time.

It's been a long time since I've read a book in a day. I loved this book, and as predicted it hit me right in the feels.

The book follows Julie as she prepares for high school graduation after the death of her boyfriend of 3 years. Through the struggles of not wanting to let go and moving on with her life.

I 100% recommend this book to anyone who liked the movies Your Name, If I Stay, and PS I Love You.

Julie‘s boyfriend, Sam, whom she‘s planned her future with, dies. She misses the sound of his voice, so she calls him, and he picks up. Julie thinks it‘s their second chance and she will do anything to not break their connection; but for how long?
This book was okay. The plot was creative. I liked the diversity in it, but it was too sad for me. I‘m not a fan of sad books. I thought the ending was appropriate, especially the epilogue.

What a heartbreaking story. You've reached Sam is a story about loss. About how to move on without those you love. Every feelings explained in this book is so true. Anyone who loss someone their lives can relate to every stage of grief Julie is going through. A story I highly recommend.
I did cried at the end. For weeks after my mother passed away, I was calling her cellphone just to hear her voice. This book was really well written. ❤️💔

I was told I was going to cry from beginning to end. It was sad but it didn't made me cry. I enjoyed the book a little bit but I was expecting a little more.

Omgggg, I can't believe this has just been sitting in my library for months!! It was such an amazing read and so many feels!! Story focuses on how one grieves after a loved one dies but also touches on some of the regrets of the dead party, made possible by #magicalrealism 📱If you like Your Name (anime movie) then this is a good read, had similar vibes, imma go cry now!!

My 16-year-old niece told me I HAD to read this book and I can totally see why it‘s so popular. Tragic, romantic, longing - all the emotions. But then I think, wow. I must be old - and I‘ve never experienced a love that broke my heart or made me want to drop everything and risk it all….not my cup of tea, but I appreciate it. My 16-year-old self would‘ve loved this, too.

I don‘t judge a book by its cover, but I think they can draw people in. If I saw these in a book store, I‘d pick up the book! Its also lovely to have a book that also feels like a work of art. And they look beautiful on your bookshelves! 😍

This book has me crying the entire way through it. Everyone grieves over the loss of someone they care about differently. Going through this grief with Julie was eye opening. We all wish to grieve and get over loss gracefully, and sometimes, it just doesn‘t happen. I feel like this book was a fair representation of that and showing the steps of healing and moving on are just not easy. This book is definitely one of my new favorites.

This book definitely isn‘t my usual genre I‘m into, but it was a quick 5/5⭐️ read for me. The story, the details, the plot, everything was perfect in my mind and was an amazing book 😭

Overall, I liked the concept but the actual book fell a little flat for me. I never connected with Julie or Sam as characters and only in the last pages was I actually moved by anything emotionally.

Happy Publication Day! This YA novel opens after Julie‘s boyfriend, Sam, dies. Seniors in high school, Julie feels lost & that her dreams for the future are as dead as Sam… In a desperate moment, she calls his phone… and he picks up! It reminded me a bit of Rainbow Rowell‘s LANDLINE, but this is much more focused on grieving and all who are impacted when a relationship ends. It‘s a sad read, but I wish that I felt a stronger connection to Julie.

This is a debut, and a YA novel with a unique premise. Julie and Sam are high school seniors who have been together for 3 years. Tragically, Sam‘s life is cut short, and Julie is devastated in her grief and guilt. During one of her breakdowns she calls Sam‘s cell phone…and he answers. Thus begins a journey through the ultimate catharsis of saying goodbye. Other than some frustrations with Julie at times and a suspension of disbelief, this was a 🔻

From chapter one, You've Reached Sam had plucked out my heart strings and played them like a violin. There's so much love, grief and relatable raw emotion poured onto these pages, blended together with seamless talent. Pacing, character development, writing style and world building were great. 4.5 stars (would have been 5 but my reason is a spoiler), and a new author to keep an eye out for. Thank you to NetGalley for providing a copy.
