Before Your Memory Fades (Original)
Before Your Memory Fades (Original) | Toshikazu Kawaguchi
The latest novel in the international bestselling Before the Coffee Gets Cold Series, following four new customers in a little Tokyo caf where customers can travel back in time. In a small back alley in Tokyo, there is a caf that has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. But this coffee shop offers its customers a unique experience: the chance to travel back in time. From the author of Before the Coffee Gets Cold and Tales from the Cafe comes another story of four new customers, each of whom is hoping to take advantage of Caf Funiculi Funicula's time-traveling offer. Along with some familiar faces from Kawaguchi's previous novels, readers will also be introduced to a daughter, a comedian, a sister and a lover, each with something they wish they had said differently. With his signature heartwarming characters and immersive storytelling, Kawaguchi once again invites the reader to ask themselves: what would you change if you could travel back in time?

I loved this 3rd installment of the series, Before The Coffee gets Cold. It was slow going for me in places, and the author repeats a lot of things you already know, but maybe he‘s worried about fading memories? Lol Anyway, more vignettes, but a new setting….Hakodate, not Tokyo. It kind of makes you want to read the first book again. I don‘t remember Yukari being mentioned, is anyone reading the first or second book who can inform me?

JanuarieTimewalker13 I would suggest reading all three back to back. I read the first one about 3 years ago and the second about 2 years ago. They are slim enough to read again, but there‘s so many other books I want to read!! 1w
LaraReads Before the Coffee Gets Cold has been on my radar for a while! I need to get to it! 1w
IuliaC I can't wait to read this installment, but it's been so long since I read the first two, I can't remember the characters' names 1w
JanuarieTimewalker13 @LaraReads it‘s a really good read!! You‘ll enjoy it!! 1w
JanuarieTimewalker13 @IuliaC I remembered some, I was tempted to write down all the names in the beginning of this book, but when I was midway, and hadn‘t done it yet, it became unnecessary, although, I think it would‘ve been a good idea. If I were starting out with this series, I would definitely write down the names of the cafe workers/owners. I did get confused with Japanese names bc sometimes I would think it was a male name when it was female. (edited) 1w

Oooo I do like this series!! I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first two, but story 2 here made me tear up so it's safe to say I still liked it😂

I just love falling into the rhythm of this series. Even though the book is short, I might as well double the page count. The author does a great job of threading a consistent theme (if the world ends tomorrow questions) across 4 distinct stories, seamlessly giving supporting characters in one story a staring role in the next that when I reach the end I‘m compelled to begin again.

SheReadsAndWrites I am reading Before The Coffee Gets Cold right now for book club. It's lovely. I didn't know it was a series! 🤓 3w
IuliaC I can't wait to read this one too 😍 3w
BookwormM Must remember to get this one 3w

Just finished and I loved it. I loved the whole series, and how it read like a continuation of each other (you really have to read the other two first). Four more stories of people going through time with the help of a special cafe, this one being the sister cafe of the one in Tokyo. We meet Sachi, the newest of the girls to pour the coffee at seven. I loved her, and the new characters, plus the nods to the Tokyo cafe and characters I met there

Third book in the series 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold'. There's going to be a 4th one even, but it's not yet translated.

I fell in love with these stories with Before the Coffee Gets Cold. I was so excited when I bought book two, but I wanted more. The characters are so amazing and multifaceted, especially considering that some don't get a lot of time in the book. Imagine my excitement when I saw a third book! 12 days and counting!!!!

Garabrandtreviews I just ordered a copy from Book Depository!!! I hope to be able to have it by release date so I can review with quotes. I have the eARC from netgalley right now 3mo

There is another coffee shop for aspiring time travellers, this one in Hakodate rather than Tokyo, but the rules are the same. The book follows the same format of four interlinked stories but it is starting to feel a little forced and lacking the freshness and interest the first two books had.

Apparently the one in Tokyo is not the only cafe for aspiring time travellers. Here I am in a local cafe. I wonder where I should be sitting.

Heartbreaking but also heartwarming. These books will always have a place with me, each one has 4 stories following 4 different people going to the cafe to travel in time and honestly I've cried at every story.
