so-soI couldn't really relate to Red, she was thinking same things over and over again. Other characters were pretty flat.
It took so long before things started to feel thrilling and the most part of the book people were just babbling and doing almost nothing.
I got tired of repetitive writing.
The last part of the book was good and there were some nice twists. There were still some super unbelievable things happening that felt just ridiculous.
so-soJackson‘s first standalone takes place in a fixed setting over one night. Narrator Red, her BFF Maddy, Maddy‘s older brother & his girlfriend, along with 2 other friends are all in a 31‘ RV on their way from PA to AL for spring break. Their first night doesn‘t go as planned when the RV breaks down & they‘re pinned in place by a mysterious armed person demanding they hand over their secrets! The pace is oddly slow & Red‘s spaciness drove me nuts!
pickSix teens head to spring break in an RV. In the middle of the night somewhere in SC, they get lost and the RV gets a flat. Then the friends realize they‘re not alone. A sniper is also there, demanding that one of them reveal a secret before sunrise. The friends have to figure out which one of them is being targeted, or they all will die. This was tense throughout and I didn‘t want to stop listening!

pickA tense, mysterious thriller that I read in two days. Six college friends, one broken down RV in the middle of nowhere and a sniper looking for the truth. The sniper knows them all and he knows who they are. A great game of cat and mouse as each member tries to work out the secret that is needed to save them. Full of tension, fast pace and giving cramped claustrophobic feelings. The characters behaviour kept me guessing throughout. 4 👍🏻
Starting this today. Not my usual genre of choice but thought I‘d give it a go.

I‘m nervous about a doctor‘s appointment on Friday. So to combat it, I got myself some books today.
pickI gotta say, until I wasn't like, 28% into the book, I was a bit bored. But when I hit that mark, it started getting so interesting that it had at the edge of my seat and finished it in two days. I'll definitely pick another of her books up, she has a way with words and mystery.

Fast paced. Mostly dialog. Takes place in an RV stranded at the side of the road. Who‘s lying?
I didn‘t connect with any of the characters really. In fact I disliked more than I was ambivalent towards. Yet, I still enjoyed it.
Satisfying ending.

pickThis is my first experience with Jackson, even though I have a A Good Girl‘s guide on my TBR. Early on I would have said I was not enjoying it, but at some point I became invested in the characters and what was happening. I had what I would consider the big reveal figured out, but was still surprised by some of it. I do want to rant about a particular character but I feel that is a bit of a spoiler.
pickExcellent thriller. Kept me on my toes. I also got the outcome I just wanted which made me happy.
pickHolly Jackson is one of my favorite authors and this is a book that she accomplished PERFECTLY. All the mystery and suspense in this book made me fly through it.

pickOh what a tangled web we weave, especially when all involved are trying to deceive. This is a twisted novel that I enjoyed untangling. While there were some things that I found easy to figure out, I was still surprised along the way. It is a fast-paced, to the point story; it doesn‘t describe things that are basically unimportant to the narrative and mystery and instead focus on the action and events, making it into an on-the-edge-of-my-seat read.
pickSo this one was…ok. It was quick and the narrator was able to keep my attention but I never really cared about what was happening. The characters were kind of annoying and one of them was such a gaslighting douche that I couldn‘t help but roll my eyes when he continually tried to manipulate everyone else. I will say this was definitely a unique situation and I wasn‘t quite sure how to would resolve itself, which I love. 🌟🌟🌟💫
pickNot my favorite Jackson book but still an enjoyable audiobook listen. Six people. Five survive. I definitely had my top choice to be eliminated 🤣

so-soOn the whole, I did enjoy this one, but there were too many occasions where, having built tension, the author allowed it to dissipate by taking too long to get to the next action
What with work being really busy (because we have the auditors in😩), a quiz to go to tonight, and studying tomorrow, I‘ll be lucky if I read 20 pages of my current read this weekend, so literally that is my aim!

I listened to Five Survive with reservation, as I'd been disappointed by the only other Holly Jackson novel I've read. Six teens borrow an rv and head out for Spring break. When they stop, lost, with a flat tire, they find they're not alone; a sniper has them in in his cross hairs and demands for one of them to give up their secret. It was fast-paced and engaging, with a dynamic protagonist and surprises. I really enjoyed it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a wild, fast-paced ride of a book! Good Girls Guide To Murder is my favorite series, so I couldn't wait to read this one. I enjoyed that it started out slow, then rushed right into the action! 😱

panHolly Jackson‘s standalone YA thriller is a disappointing misfire. I get what Jackson was going for - an external threat becoming less dangerous than the internal threat that emerges within the group. Unfortunately the characterisation is poor, especially Red whose guilt comes across as flakiness while Oliver‘s mummy issues never convinced me while the plot points and motivations don‘t make a whole lot of sense when you think about them.
pickThe first half felt incredibly slow but the second is a complete whirlwind full of details and secrets. I figured out "the person" early on but not the wholeness of the complete story. A solid standalone but left with just enough if a follow up or spin-off came from it.
pickThis author is quickly becoming a favorite of mine as far as psychological thrillers go. Really a well done if not quirky read.
so-so3⭐Ugh…first off, I don‘t like Emma Galvin as a narrator. When she talks it sounds like she is super congested. I was so disappointed when I noticed that she would be narrating…cause I know how I feel about her. Add to that the imaginative yet wildly implausible plot…and I wasn‘t really into this. Basically, it had a good set-up with an intense atmosphere, a middle that struggled, and an ending that really makes you have to suspend your disbelief.
