Four women come together to save the summer camp that changed their lives and rediscover themselves in the process in this heartwarming new novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Wedding Veil. Nearly thirty years ago, in the wake of a personal tragedy, June Moore bought Camp Holly Springs and turned it into a thriving summer haven for girls. But now, June is in danger of losing the place she has sacrificed everything forand begins to realize how much she has used the camp to avoid facing difficulties in her life. Junes niece, Daphne, met her two best friends, Lanier Bradley and Mary Stuart Harris, during a fateful summer at camp, and the three are inseparable even in their thirties. But when attorney Daphne discovers that Laniers fiancwho just so happens to be her clienthas done something highly illegal, she must choose between her job and her friendship. Meanwhile, Lanier is hiding secrets both new and old that might make Daphne see the situation in an entirely different light. When one of those secrets unexpectedly rises to the surface, it threatens to change the very fabric of their friendship. But when the women learn that their childhood oasis is in danger of closing, they put aside their own problems and band together with June to save it, sending them on a journey that promises to open the next chapters in their lives. From an author whose writing coats your soul with heart (E! Online), The Summer of Songbirds is a lyrical and unforgettable celebration of female friendship, and a love letter to the places and people that make us who we are.

I love stories about female friendship, and I mostly liked the friendship of these three women but got frustrated at times with their secrecy from one another. I do want to take “hard things” and use with my besties and sisters!

Well, I didn‘t get the book I went for with my Barnes and noble gift card (Let Us Descend) but I love this author and I‘m excited for this one! The copy of Let Us Descend had a sticker I didn‘t like on it so I ordered it from Amazon 🤷🏻‍♀️

#Booklovers with #BookProblems

TheBookgeekFrau I still don't understand the intentional marring of brand new, and quite expensive books with stickers 🤬 Luckily, I'm married to a man with a heat gun, and a lot of patience who restores my books to their original glory! 😁😂 (for a while B&N was using stickers with post-it-notes type of sticky stuff, and now it seems hit or miss) 6mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @TheBookgeekFrau or the use a brand with so and so‘s bookclub 😫 and you can‘t remove it! 6mo

This is a nice, uplifting summer read. The women‘s friendships go through ups and downs, but they come out the other side of those problems. It‘s probably the book I needed now given what‘s going on in my life. It was a lovely day — I‘m enjoying the lower temperatures. #audiowalk

I switched from Excellent Women to this because I‘m having trouble concentrating and Kristy Woodson Harvey‘s books are easier to digest. Her characters though often make decisions for idiotic reasons and that‘s happening here too. #audiowalk

Sigh. Multigenerational womens fiction with several POV featuring lifelong friendships, loss, addiction, drama, romance, overcoming, gah.... Just a perfect combination.

I was a little skeptical going in but was soon lost in an enjoyable story.

I normally love a Kristy Woodson Harvey novel, but this one is sounding a whole lot like The Clover Girls by Viola Shipman. That's not a bad thing except, I don't want to read a story I already read.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I love her books! On my list 💙 9mo

It is a lovely nostalgic read that brings you to a simpler time while also dealing with tougher stuff. The setting of summer camp is somforting and timely, but it is certainly not a fluffy read. I loved how much summer camp impacted kids, no matter their real home life during the other 50 weeks in a year. It covered some serious themes like addiction, trauma, and death and what you carry with you into adulthood and can overcome.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐬 by 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝗪𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 is an emotional exploration of the strength & resilience of women, & their ability to forge & maintain lifelong friendships, even though tested by secrets, jealousy, & long-held grudges. The characters are believable, as are their personal & professional conundrums as they race to preserve the camp where they made memories.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝗪𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 is a new-to-me author. I received this gorgeous copy of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐬, publishing July 11, 2023, from the generous folks at 𝘎𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴! Temps are going to be 100+ degrees in the next few days, so I plan to spend a lot of time reading by the pool. Based on the synopsis, I doubt I'll have any trouble getting lost in the story for a few hours.

InkedBookworm13 Most of the books I want to buy are series I have already read and loved so much that I have to own them. (Frostblood, Caraval, Air Awakens, Cruel Prince) 1y
